Murphy didn't stay long at the Wayfarer Headquarters ruins, just as he'd said. Early the next morning, he returned to Base R-9, and the players who had fought in the battle the day before came back with him.
The distance between the two ends of the Dark Mountains was considerable, but the players didn't have to worry about being unable to return. The miraculous Creator Travel Network had already been opened to them.
For now, only Base R-9 and the Wayfarer Headquarters were open among the four travel points. The remaining one, the Gnoll Civilization Museum, was only available to gnoll players, while the fourth area, marked "???," was still sealed off. Even so, just having two travel points was enough to make the players ecstatic.
The portals used by psionics had always been convenient, but with the risk of getting lost and all the restrictions on their use, they were nowhere near as appealing as these permanent travel points.
The players who had returned with Murphy were extremely excited.
They had seen the Gray Wolf Army's gnolls carrying loads of mysterious metal cases back and forth through the travel point. There was no need to ask what was inside. It meant Lord Murphy was finally handing out quest rewards.
These weren't just rewards for helping the Gray Wolf Army defeat the Bonechewer Vanguard the day before. There were also rewards for clearing and capturing Base R-9, as well as for the Twilight Hunt quest!
This was the second stage of the Godslayer's legendary quest. The first stage had rewarded them with the legacy left behind by the Bonechewer King. The second stage had been so difficult that the players had suffered heavy casualties while fighting through it, all while protecting the NPCs. It would be ridiculous if they weren't
