The Endless was, without a doubt, a snake of a villain.
Every word that spilled from its venom-dripping snout carried a specific purpose and considerable risk. Before its misfortune, it had been infamous throughout the Astral Realm. Anyone who had ever gotten involved with it hoped the villainous snake, who deserved to be put down for the good of humanity, would drop dead on the spot.
But since becoming Murphy's collaborator, Mannis's performance had been hard to fault. At the very least, it had been exemplary by industry standards.
It occasionally played little tricks, but when it came to the big issues, the Endless's position was remarkably firm. It was almost as if, after getting taught a lesson by the Astral Dragons, the villainous snake had truly seen the light and turned over a new leaf.
But appearances could be deceiving.
The smooth cooperation between the Endless and Murphy was built on their shared interests. Moreover, the Endless had hinted more than once that it had bet everything on Murphy's ability to turn its fortunes around. It was counting on Administrator Murphy to rise to the top and bring it along for the ride.
From that perspective, when it came to matters concerning their shared interests, Murphy could absolutely trust Mannis's judgment. This shameless snake, capable of traversing time, knew an insane amount about the world. On many matters, it could be Lord Alpha's most capable advisor.
Even so, after Mannis hinted that since Murphy was already here, he might as well make a big score in the Warp, the Administrator's first reaction was still to firmly refuse.
What kind of nonsense was that?!
