Escape

A powerful Black Light blanketed the desert, turning the entire region into darkness.

A man appeared in the center of the darkness.

He wore a black robe covered in runes and a black hat pulled low over his face.

Only the area around the Scorpion Demon Queen had yet to be swallowed by the darkness.

The man glanced around, then focused his attention on the Scorpion Demon Queen.

"Where is it?" he demanded.

The Scorpion Demon Queen covered her mouth with one hand and yawned. "Are you asking me?"

"Obviously I'm asking you," the man said angrily.

The Scorpion Demon Queen tilted her head and thought for a moment before replying, "Hmm, it was here just a moment ago. I don't know where it went now."

"Are you trying to make a fool of me?"

"I'm telling the truth."

"Fine, fine, fine. Once I find that card, I'll deal with you."

The man stomped his foot and prepared to leave.

Suddenly, his expression changed, and he flung out seven or eight cards.

Layer upon layer of light enveloped him, forming walls of darkness, several sturdy shields, a giant guard clad in armor, and a translucent barrier of darkness.

Boom!

A streak of light shot toward him with blinding speed.

Before it, the walls collapsed, all the shields shattered, and the giant guard was pierced through. Only the final translucent barrier managed to withstand the streak of light.

The Black Robed Man was blasted dozens of meters away.

He crouched awkwardly on the ground and looked up at the barrier.

A sharp stinger had plunged into it, sinking deep inside.

It seemed that the stinger was only a hair's breadth from piercing through the barrier.

"Scorpion Queen, did you take that card? Are you trying to start an all-out war?"
