Background

Ye Fan once belonged to Medicine Valley, where he acquired much of his foundation in the Medicine Dao. He was implicated in the Star Fiend Corpse Poison incident, imprisoned despite being innocent, and forced to leave after Xiao Qing persuaded him that departure was necessary for their safety. His junior sister was punished in the aftermath, leaving the incident as a lasting grievance and motivating him to uncover the true poisoner. 1033 1388

He considers the Nine Dragons Cauldrons his principal route to restoring his influence and returning to Medicine Valley on his own terms. By a later point, he has cleared his name; he leaves Medicine Valley again with Xiao Qing to search for the remaining Medicine Cauldrons. 653 1388 1710
