Oden and Feelings in the Night Wind

The inn was not far from his home, so there was no need to go to the parking lot for a car. They chose to walk instead.

Night deepened, and the streets were quiet and relaxed.

Anjing Zhen walked ahead, naturally taking on the role of a temporary guide. He did not bring up his thoughts about the race from that afternoon again. Instead, he pointed out the streetscape along the way and introduced it in an even tone.

"That's the ramen shop I used to visit all the time as a kid. The flavor's really authentic... And this oden stall around the corner has been run by the same owner for decades. I used to come here often when I got home late from school..."

His casual words sounded like ordinary small talk, yet they quietly sketched out the path of his life growing up in this place.

Kitasan Black, silently following behind him, listened with particular attention. Her crimson eyes curiously took in these ordinary sights that were nevertheless connected to him.

Before long, a traditional inn with a noren curtain and soft lighting came into view.

Inside were neat tatami rooms, warmly and comfortably arranged, carrying the relaxing atmosphere of home.

After helping everyone check in and carefully explaining the various facilities and the time they would meet the next morning, Anjing Zhen took his leave.

As he stepped outside the inn, the cool night breeze brushed against his face.

Anjing Zhen stopped and thought for a moment. He took out his phone, opened his contacts, and tapped into his message history with "Little Kita."

After another moment of thought, he lowered his head and began composing a message. Before he could finish, the inn curtain rustled not far behind him.

He looked up—and froze.
