Although Kitasan Black did not quite understand why Tokai Teio had suddenly called her back, she still answered loudly, full of vigor, before disappearing through the doorway.

Separated by the door, Tokai Teio waited until Kitasan Black's footsteps faded at the end of the corridor. The encouraging smile on her face gradually fell away.

With a pensive expression, she slowly unfolded the newspaper in her hands.

As she carefully read through it, her gaze grew increasingly complicated.

After reading the entire paper, she said nothing. She merely set it down at the corner of her desk, then silently walked behind the desk and sat down without a sound.

As though she were preparing to return to the work she had set aside before the tea party, she picked up the documents and began turning through them page by page.

Yet her slightly drooping ears, unfocused eyes, and tightly drawn lips all made one thing clear: her mind was nowhere near the documents in her hands.

Mejiro McQueen noticed all of it at once, but said nothing.

She walked over to the coffee table and refilled both of their cups with warm tea.

The fragrance of tea quietly spread through the air. Carrying a cup, she walked over to Tokai Teio's desk.

After placing one cup on the tabletop, she held the other in one hand, picked up the newspaper from the corner of the desk with the other, and turned it to the front page.

The newspaper was called Shining, an official publication issued under the guidance of the URA Association. Renowned for its exceptional authority, anything that made its front page was invariably major news capable of affecting the entire Horse Girl world.
