Background / History

Mu En once travelled the continent alongside Long Xiaoyao and Ye Xishui. Mu En and Long Xiaoyao became close after approaching an Evil Soul Master-infested village from different directions and eliminating its inhabitants; they later developed a Martial Soul Fusion Skill. In their youth, the three suppressed the geniuses of their generation. 157 160

By the time of Shrek Academy's crisis, Mu En had lived for over 250 years and become a Rank 99 Limit Douluo. An injury sustained after absorbing a Dragon Core following his battle with Du Bisi left his waist paralyzed, forcing him to use a wheelchair and limiting his ability to exert his full strength. 60 161 167

As Sea God Pavilion Master, Mu En was deeply concerned that Shrek had become complacent, internally rotten, and unable to keep pace with the Soul Tool Revolution. He sought a successor capable of leading the academy through reform before his remaining lifespan ran out. 60 176

Appearance

Mu En is an elderly, white-haired man with a deeply wrinkled face and a frail body. He normally wears plain gray clothing and moves in a simple wheelchair due to his paralysis. 60 187

  • White hair and an aged, weathered face. 60 187
  • Usually wheelchair-bound, though he can propel it with Soul Power at extraordinary speed. 60 161
  • His body appears thin and fragile despite his status as one of the continent's strongest Soul Masters. 187
  • His Martial Soul Avatar takes the form of a colossal white dragon. 398 399

Personality

Mu En is gentle, perceptive, and deeply protective of Shrek's students, but he is uncompromising when confronting corruption, incompetence, or threats to those under his care. He values character and broad vision over status, raw talent, or Shrek's traditional prestige. 145 155 187

Though he once held harsher views in his youth, age and proximity to death have made him more reflective. He refuses to judge Castorice as an Evil Soul Master solely because of her death-related Martial Soul, instead judging her by her love for life and kindness toward others. 157

Mu En retains a strong sense of loyalty to Long Xiaoyao despite their separation and Long Xiaoyao's association with the Holy Spirit Cult. Rather than condemn his old friend, Mu En invites him to speak honestly and gives him an opportunity to seek redemption. 176 191

Abilities & Skills

Light Holy Dragon Martial Soul

Mu En's Martial Soul is the Light Holy Dragon, granting him exceptionally pure Light Soul Power and authority over light elements. His bloodline is identified as descending from a branch of Di Tian's father. 155 160

  • Uses Light Soul Power for offense, suppression, healing, and body tempering. 160 188
  • Can form light chains to restrain enemies. 160
  • Can manifest a giant palm of condensed light to capture fleeing opponents. 160
  • His light is particularly effective at cleansing impurities from the body. 188
  • His Light Holy Dragon bloodline is suppressed by Di Tian's Golden-Eyed Black Dragon King bloodline. 167

Limit Douluo Cultivation

Mu En is a Rank 99 Limit Douluo, placing him among the era's three Ultimate Douluos. Even while crippled, his combat strength vastly exceeds ordinary Titled Douluo. 60 130 151

  • Can defeat and incapacitate Soul Emperors with negligible effort. 159 160
  • His control over Soul Power is precise enough to sever an opponent's meridians while keeping them alive. 160
  • His physical condition prevents him from fully using his peak strength unless he burns his life force. 167
  • At Shrek Academy, he can draw upon the Golden Ancient Tree to contend with Di Tian or avoid immediate disadvantage. 167

Spatial Manipulation

Mastery over space is a hallmark of Mu En's Limit Douluo level in this era. 160

  • Opens spatial cracks for instantaneous movement. 160
  • Can pursue an agility-focused Soul Emperor despite the latter pushing his body beyond its limits. 160
  • Teleports Phainon and Mydeimos directly to Sea God Island. 187
  • Uses spatial power despite being physically disabled and wheelchair-bound. 159 161

Reign Over the World

Mu En's signature combat art, Reign Over the World, infuses the spirit into physical attacks; at higher mastery, it can be reversed to infuse Soul Power into the spirit. 159 399

  • Can force surrounding light elements into violent unrest, preventing Yan Shaozhe's Light Phoenix from controlling them. 159
  • Represents Mu En's sovereign, overwhelming combat presence as the Dragon God Douluo. 399
  • Mu En threatens to settle disputes over his reforms with its full-force use. 159

White Dragon Martial Soul Avatar

When confronting Ah Yin and the Golden Ancient Tree, Mu En manifests his Martial Soul Avatar as a colossal white dragon. 398 399

  • Possesses a near-perfect Soul Ring configuration of two yellow, two purple, two black, and three red rings. 399
  • Uses light-infused dragon claws and Light Thunder to damage the Golden Ancient Tree's manifested body. 405
  • Combines Spiritual Power, Soul Power, Soul Skills, and combat techniques into unified attacks. 405
  • Continues fighting while disregarding the violent backlash of his Dragon Core. 405

Spiritual Power

Mu En's Spiritual Power has reached the peak of the Spirit Abyss Realm, only one step below the Spirit Domain Realm. 398

  • Can spread his perception across an entire region, such as Emerald Soil. 167
  • Perceives the origins of souls at his level of Spiritual Power. 398
  • Uses Spiritual Power to inspect Shrek Academy's records and identify systemic problems in the Outer Academy. 155
  • His spiritual cultivation surpassed Long Xiaoyao's after his disability pushed him to develop it further. 398

Meridian Expansion and Body Tempering

Mu En can use his Light Soul Power to refine others' bodies with extraordinary control. 188

  • Cleanses bodily impurities without harming the recipient. 188
  • Expands meridians to improve Soul Power circulation and future cultivation speed. 188
  • Tempered Phainon and Mydeimos until their bodies could withstand ten-thousand-year Soul Rings. 188
  • Allowed both disciples to consider third Soul Rings of up to twenty thousand years. 188

Story Role / Major Arcs

Search for Shrek's Successor

Mu En initially fears that Shrek has no suitable successor. He is dissatisfied with Yan Shaozhe's limited vision and seeks someone able to guide Shrek beyond its dependence on traditional Martial Soul culture. 60

His hopes are renewed after meeting Phainon, whose Ultimate Light Soul Power eases the pain caused by Mu En's Dragon Core injury. Mu En is especially impressed by Phainon's warmth, sincerity, and alignment between his character and Martial Soul. 145

After observing Mydeimos's strength and self-control, Mu En recognizes that Phainon and Mydeimos possess Ultimate Light and Ultimate Power respectively. He changes the Reserve Team selection rules to include first-year students, allowing exceptional freshmen to participate earlier. 146 147

Purging Shrek Academy

Mu En investigates Shrek's Outer Academy and finds harmful teaching practices, compromised academic administration, and entrenched institutional problems. He resolves to clean up the academy while he still has the strength to do so. 155 159

When Dai Huabin sends black-robed Soul Emperors to retaliate against Mydeimos's Battle Arena victory, Mu En personally subdues the attackers, cripples their leader's cultivation, and orders Yan Shaozhe to seek compensation from the White Tiger Duke's Mansion. 159 160

Xilu City and Soul Tool Reform

During his visit to Xilu City, Mu En witnesses cheap factory-produced Soul Tools, Dream Coin-powered civilian devices, and orphans without Soul Power studying arithmetic and Soul Tool design. The experience convinces him that Shrek must reform its Soul Tool Department and educational philosophy. 175

He subsequently commits to broad reforms: personalized instruction, improved teacher standards, aid for financially struggling students, abolition of the City Lord Recommendation Letter system, and mandatory Soul Tool and mathematics courses for first-year students. 205

Taking Disciples

Mu En formally brings Phainon and Mydeimos to Sea God Island and accepts them as his disciples. He chooses them not only for their Ultimate Martial Souls, but for their character and willingness to help change Shrek Academy. 187

As a gift, he expands their meridians and tempers their bodies with Light Soul Power. During the process, he witnesses Phainon's Divine Power of Destruction but respects the boy's privacy rather than demand an explanation. 188

Alliance with Long Xiaoyao

Concerned that Shrek will be vulnerable during reform, Mu En contacts Long Xiaoyao through the Magic Net and asks for help. The two reunite after years apart, speak openly about Long Xiaoyao's past, and restore their bond. 189 191

Mu En appoints Long Xiaoyao as a guest Elder of the Sea God Pavilion. Their combined strength and Limit Douluo-level Martial Soul Fusion Skill provide Shrek with protection while its reforms are implemented. 204

Golden Ancient Tree Crisis

Mu En eventually discovers that Ah Yin has incorporated the souls of past Sea God Pavilion Masters into the Golden Ancient Tree. Recognizing his own teacher among the trapped souls, he becomes enraged and exposes the truth behind the Pavilion Masters' supposed fusion with the tree. 397 398

He orders Shrek's defenders to evacuate students and protect Shrek City, then battles Ah Yin alone in his white dragon avatar. Mu En fights without regard for the Dragon Core's backlash, treating the confrontation as his final stand. 398 405
