Background
Yu Xinlang is Wang Xianzhi's eldest disciple in Wudi City and is recognized as one of the foremost martial artists of his generation. Before his duel with Wang Ritain, his swordsmanship had already grasped the essence of a Land Sword Immortal, and opponents at a comparable cultivation level rarely matched him. Despite this reputation, witnessing Wang Ritain fight made his sword hand tremble. 20
Watching Wang Ritain's swordsmanship against the Martial Slaves leaves Yu Xinlang deeply discouraged. He realizes that the gap between their sword arts is “as vast as the difference between heaven and earth,” to the point that he cannot draw his sword before Wang Ritain. 22
After Wang Ritain challenges him, Yu Xinlang accepts because refusing would leave a shadow in his heart and damage his future breakthroughs. He agrees to fight at the East Sea outside Wudi City. 27
Appearance
Yu Xinlang is described as tall and upright, carrying a long sword. During the East Sea duel, he stands upon the waves with his robes fluttering around him. 20 28
- Holds himself with the bearing expected of Wudi City's leading disciple. 20
- Carries a long sword whose cold gleam reflects his exceptional swordsmanship. 20
- Can manifest overwhelming sword energy capable of splitting the sea. 28
Personality
Yu Xinlang is proud of his standing, but he is capable of honestly recognizing superior skill. Wang Ritain's swordsmanship unsettles him and leaves him feeling inadequate, yet it also earns his admiration. 20 22
He is highly competitive and treats the duel as necessary for his cultivation. Even after being wounded and pushed into a disadvantage, he refuses to concede because he believes Wudi City's dignity is at stake. 27 30
His determination becomes desperation when he summons and integrates his master's Martial Dao Will. Although this grants him immense temporary power, it ultimately fails to reverse the battle. 31 33
Abilities & Skills
Swordsmanship
Yu Xinlang is an elite swordsman whose art is considered among the best of the younger generation. His sword intent is initially heavy and oppressive, like a mountain bearing down on opponents. 20 29
- His sword energy can cut apart the sea and raise enormous waves. 28
- His displayed combat power at the Finger Profound Realm is considered capable of contending with the Heavenly Phenomenon Realm. 29
- He exchanges more than a hundred blows with Wang Ritain before his true qi begins to fail. 30
- His sword intent can shift from immense heaviness to extreme sharpness. 30
Sword, Return! Soul, Scatter!
Yu Xinlang's powerful sword move unleashes a desolate, heavy sword intent that stills the surrounding sea while creating immense pressure across the battlefield. 30
- The technique pushes him to the level of a half-step Heavenly Phenomenon martial artist in Cao Changqing's assessment. 30
- It is countered by Wang Ritain's Sword Twenty-Two. 30
Wang Xianzhi's Martial Dao Will
Wang Xianzhi left a Martial Dao Will within Yu Xinlang as a life-saving contingency. Yu Xinlang forcefully summons and integrates it after his conventional swordsmanship fails. 30 31
- Raises Yu Xinlang temporarily to the Heavenly Phenomenon Realm. 31
- Allows him to unleash sword strikes powerful enough to split the sea and shatter Wang Ritain's Sword Twenty-Two curtain. 31
- Its use leaves an indelible scar that makes it far harder for Yu Xinlang to catch up to Wang Ritain in future cultivation. 31
- The Martial Dao Will is immobilized and then shattered by Wang Ritain's Sword Twenty-Three. 32 33
