Their blood ties were far too close—so close they were like half-brothers who shared the same father. Though they looked very different, the kinship between their bloodlines and the nearly identical pressure they exuded allowed Lei Long to claim leadership by challenging the head of the group.
After Lei Long had helped Lei Dong expand his forces in the Great Desert, he had gotten a taste of the benefits. He also realized that without underlings at his side, it was easy for others to bully him—the trip to the Nine Nether Abyss had been a case in point. So he began rampaging across the Great Desert, subduing all sorts of underlings with Flying Dragon blood. He had managed to put together a fairly decent force: more than a dozen Nascent Soul level Monster Beasts, all sorts of strange and unusual descendants of dragon blood; several hundred Golden Core level descendants; and, in the greatest numbers, around ten thousand Foundation Establishment level ones. There were few at the Qi Refining Stage. Even Monster Beasts with only a trace of Flying Dragon blood were no ordinary creatures. If they lived to adulthood, they would at least reach Foundation Establishment.
Those so-called Qi Refining Stage underlings were mostly immature descendants of dragon blood.
All these subordinates had submitted to the pressure of Lei Long's pure dragon blood, treating him like the leader of their own kind and displaying an innate loyalty to him. Of course, bloodline alone was not the reason. The main factor was Lei Long's natural strength. He was a Spirit Transmutation level Monster Beast, and so far, no second one had been found in the Great Desert. His status as a Spirit Transmutation Demon Beast gave him considerable influence and power to rally others, even among those outside his bloodline.
