Of course, Lei Dong knew that with his current strength, he probably had no way to break that seal. Chaos True Essence was the root of all true essence and could take the form of Wan Ling. But unless he had cultivated and understood a given attribute himself, he could never transform it at will.

For example, in theory, Chaos True Essence could become fire true essence, allowing him to wield flames like Extreme Yang True Fire or even True Sun Fire. But Lei Dong's own understanding of the Law of Fire was extremely weak. The best he could manage were flames such as Three Yin True Fire and Three Yang True Fire. Against a cultivator of the same level, those flames would be a joke; they couldn't even singe a single hair on their opponent's head.

Likewise, though Lei Dong understood the Netherworld Law quite deeply, he had yet to reach a high or ultimate level of mastery. The Netherworld Ghost Qi formed from his Chaos True Essence was still nowhere near powerful enough to break Azure Wave Fairy's seal.

Throughout history, the one who had mastered the Netherworld Law most deeply was likely the Netherworld God. Many Netherworld spells and cultivation methods had begun as his ideas and experiments. Unfortunately, the Netherworld God's whereabouts had always been a mystery. Lei Dong, who knew more about the secrets behind that history, suspected the old god had met his end long ago. Otherwise, he would not have left behind a successor from a later generation—the Nether King.

Of course, the Nether King's understanding of the Netherworld Law was also exceedingly profound. But he, too, had met a tragic end long ago. As for the Ghost Emperor, he had cultivated the Chaos Art rather than the Netherworld branch. The Chaos Art
