Compared with before, Fran looked distinctly uneasy. As she spoke, she kept glancing around, as if afraid someone might overhear.
Jessica.
Another female classmate's face appeared in Fu Qian's mind.
Was it really like the rules of a horror movie? Did blond girls always get into trouble?
"Come in and tell me about it."
Seeing how frightened Fran looked, Fu Qian stepped aside and gestured for her to come in.
Fran didn't hesitate. She slipped straight into the room.
"What happened?"
Fu Qian closed the door, and even thoughtfully shut the window as well.
Phew!
That seemed to help Fran relax a little, and she answered Fu Qian's question more quickly.
"Just now, I was feeling uneasy by myself in my room because of what happened today, so I wanted to find Jessica and talk."
"But when I went to her room, I found the door open, and she wasn't inside."
"Neither she nor Cartman were there?"
Fu Qian knew those two shared a room.
"Right. There was no one in the room."
"Could they have gone out together?"
"No way! For one thing, the car's still in the yard. And I've been watching outside ever since we got back. I'm sure no one's left."
"I see. That is a little strange."
"But that doesn't prove anything. And if they're both gone, why are you emphasizing that Jessica is missing?"
"Because her things are gone, too."
Fran's tone was unusually serious.
"I looked carefully. Her luggage is still there, but all of Jessica's personal belongings are gone. I tried contacting her, but couldn't reach her."
She might have been a little slow to react, but she was still thinking things through carefully.
"And then you came here?"
"Yeah."
Fran understood what Fu Qian meant and nodded.
"I hadn't realized it
