Crack!
The instant Lei finished speaking, a pistol slammed into the side of his face, sending his head crashing into the wall.
"My patience is limited, you piece of trash!"
Jones stared expressionlessly at the man he'd just struck, his voice icy as he bluntly criticized his wife's nephew.
"I don't like making Mary angry, but I'm not very good at avoiding it. I still make her angry all the time."
Spitting out a mouthful of bloody saliva, which seemed to include a tooth, Lei finally looked terrified.
Before that blow, he apparently hadn't thought Jones would really hit him.
Under Jones's glare, he held out for only two more seconds before lowering his head and speaking quietly.
"Actually, something did happen to us, but we didn't see anyone. We hit... But I really didn't do it on purpose!"
Lei's next words were astonishing.

Fu Qian stood nearby, thoughtful. He recalled the scene from yesterday when the three of them had driven back.
So Lei had been driving at first, and Cartman had only taken over after the accident?
"Go on."
Jones released his grip on Lei's collar.
"We were coming back after shopping. Cartman and Jessica were acting really obnoxious, and I couldn't take it anymore. When I warned them to sit still, I got a little distracted..."
"The view at that spot wasn't very good. By the time I realized what was happening, it was too late. Someone suddenly rushed out and was thrown by the car, but I didn't know who he was..."
"At the place we searched this morning?"
Clearly, Lei's answer had come as an unexpected windfall to Jones. But he was an old hand at this, and still showed no reaction. His next question came in a low voice.
"Yes..."
