"What... observation?"
Lei looked up sharply, his expression now utterly cold. He asked through gritted teeth.
Fu Qian's words just now had sounded downright strange.
Combined with what he'd said earlier—that this place was filled with indescribable weirdness—it really did feel as if some invisible conspiracy hung over them.
In fact, Fu Qian wanted him to think exactly that.
He had to give Superman something to do, after all.
"Why, an important observation, of course!"
The next moment, Fu Qian's smile didn't fade. He casually glanced toward the spot where someone was peeking out.
Was he talking about that?
Lei clearly understood what he meant, though he seemed somewhat doubtful.
Of course he knew he was being watched. Jones had sent him out partly to ensure Mrs. Mary's safety, and partly to use him as a potential decoy. That was perfectly normal.
But some instinct deep down told him it wasn't that simple. He vaguely felt Fu Qian had something else in mind, and that gesture had merely been a smokescreen.
This guy knew things he didn't.
When the thought crossed his mind, Lei felt a surge of instinctive hostility. He had the urge to crack Fu Qian's head open.
But he couldn't act impulsively now!
"That's not bad, then. It's relatively safe. Better than vanishing without a trace."
The next moment, Lei spoke as if nothing were the matter.
"Exactly. That's the spirit. You have to look on the bright side. Maybe Cartman and the others just found this place boring and went home to throw a party."
Seeing Lei act this way, Fu Qian immediately adopted a casual tone, as if they were just chatting. He also checked the countdown.
"Maybe by tomorrow noon, they'll call and ask you to come back and party with them."
"That's impossible.
