Ha ha... Heh heh...

Fu Qian's answer had even left Pachi momentarily stunned. Then Pachi let out a string of lecherous laughter.

"You mean to say I asked you to destroy my work, kill my Horse Legs, and then sit here chatting with me?"

"Horse Legs means Goya and the others? I have to say, that's a rather interesting name."

Fu Qian clicked his tongue in admiration. Remembering the name of the item he was here to contain, he gestured around them.

"As for your question, you put on such a classic welcome ceremony. How could I not show up? That'd be terribly rude."

"Interesting!"

Pachi finally looked a little surprised.

"I have to say, you're not like the other clean-up crews."

So he was admitting it?

Hearing Pachi call him a clean-up crew, Fu Qian was all but certain his guess had been right.

So this really was a ritual?

The test involving the Abyssal Colt had been just the outward appearance. At its heart, this was a trap set to lure him in and harvest his Sanity Value.

"What makes me different? You didn't expect me to be a demigod?"

Fu Qian asked as he thought it over.

"I didn't expect you to be such a powerful demigod."

Pachi's tone had a distinctly insincere edge.

"Oh? What other weak demigods have you met?"

Fu Qian didn't mind in the least. If anything, he asked with genuine curiosity.

"Here's some advice. If you want this conversation to mean anything, the only way is to be sincere, not play tricks."

"Believe me, that won't do you any good."

With a sinister grin, Pachi actually crouched on his seat, his hands dangling on either side of his knees. At a glance, he looked just like some old man from the village.
