| Winged Dragon sublimation — Information Depth: Unmeasurable | 359 | Winged Dragon pours its power into Chun Li, completing her information-depth sublimation and elevating her beyond measurable limits. Her transformed form is revealed shortly afterward. 359 360 |
Background
Chun Li’s father was murdered by a criminal from her world. She became an International Police officer to avenge him; after succeeding, she hoped to adopt a child, return to her hometown, operate a martial arts gym, and live an ordinary life. 1
Before meeting Li Pu, Chun Li had already taken Li Fen as her first disciple. Li Fen’s withdrawn personality and devotion to hacking left Chun Li wanting another student to guide and care for. 4
She later establishes herself in Metron City, a city known for resisting criminal influence through martial arts culture. Her gym becomes both a home and training site for her students and companions. 151 208
Appearance
Chun Li is a tall, athletic martial artist with a notably powerful lower body, a curvy build, black hair, and an iconic double-bun hairstyle. Her appearance combines an imposing fighter’s physique with a mature, carefully maintained presentation. 1 35
- Usually wears her hair in twin buns; she can also let her long black hair fall loose behind them. 9 360
- Common outfits include a blue fighting bodysuit, a cheongsam, traditional cloth shoes, police uniforms, and training wear. 15 58 208
- Her legs are her most recognizable physical feature and a source of personal pride. 61
- Following her Winged Dragon sublimation, she wears a white-, gold-, and black-accented qipao with dragon-patterned details, lace gloves, and asymmetrical black legwear. 359 360
Personality
Chun Li is driven by justice, responsibility, and a deeply ingrained instinct to protect others. On first encountering Li Pu in the apocalypse, she immediately treats him as a vulnerable youth under her care, shielding him from zombies and taking charge of survival decisions. 1 2
Her nurturing side is central to her character. She feeds Li Pu, selects his equipment, trains him, dresses his injuries, and repeatedly prioritizes his safety over her own. 6 13 21 50 She considers herself both his master and a maternal figure, a role she invokes when confronting rivals for his attention. 59 177
This protectiveness can become controlling and possessive. Chun Li reacts intensely when Li Pu places himself in danger, seeks instruction from other masters, or becomes close to other women; at one point, she confines him at home to stop him from accepting a dangerous duel. 184 221 222 Her attachment increasingly develops into jealousy and obsession, which she struggles to reconcile with her public image as a dignified officer and mentor. 62 315
She is also sensitive about her age, insisting that Li Pu call her “Chun” rather than “Sister” and claiming to outsiders that she is eighteen despite being over thirty. 5
