"How she is has nothing to do with me, Shen. You should have sent people to hunt her down. That way, you could have stopped her before she sullied my honor."
Meimu didn't want to bring up her daughter at all. In her eyes, her daughter was rude and reckless, and had no understanding of the importance of rules. She truly couldn't understand how she had raised such a daughter.
So she didn't care about Akali in the slightest. She only cared about her disciple.
Meimu's words gave Shen a headache. Akali had always wanted her mother's love, but Meimu had poured all her maternal affection into another disciple.
It made him think of what had happened between him and Zed.
Before Zed killed his father and turned them into enemies, the circumstances between them had been very similar to those between Akali and her friend.
But his father hadn't been as extreme as Meimu. Though his standards were high, he had loved Shen very much.
If Meimu kept this up, though, it was only a matter of time before Akali and her friend's minds became unbalanced!
The Kinkou Order's work was extremely dangerous. Once someone's mind became unbalanced, it could attract demons, and they might become dangerous themselves—requiring the Order to deal with them.
Many Kinkou disciples hadn't died while dealing with demons. Instead, they'd lost their balance in the process, been possessed by demons, and had to be dealt with themselves.
That was what the Fist of Shadow did.
For that reason, Shen truly didn't want Meimu's daughter and disciple fighting each other. It was a completely pointless waste of energy that served no positive purpose.
But Meimu thought Shen's approach was cowardly.
"You're too soft, Shen. Just like the way you've dealt with Zed. Everyone knows that
