Background / History
Thor arrives in New Mexico stripped of his divine power and living on Jane Foster’s money. Despite his reduced state, he retains the confidence of Asgard’s foremost warrior and initially treats danger as beneath his concern. Nathan Hawke’s group approaches him as part of a plan to recruit him into a superhero project. 7 8
He is fascinated by Midgardian superpowers, particularly Max Dillon’s electricity, and willingly asks to be shocked. The experience restores a fraction of his power and calls Mjolnir to him, though he remains unable to lift it during Odin’s trial. 8 9
Loki’s attempt to kill him through the Destroyer forces Thor to confront his own worthiness. After shielding Jane from the Destroyer’s attack and nearly dying, Thor receives Mjolnir’s approval, regains his divine power, defeats the Destroyer, and returns to Asgard through the Bifrost. 10 11
Appearance
Thor is a tall, heavily built Asgardian warrior with long hair and a commanding presence. His appearance shifts between royal, ceremonial, and battlefield attire depending on his duties. 8 116 241
- Long hair described as silver during his return as the restored Thunder God; later depicted as golden during Xandar’s alliance ceremony. 11 246
- Wears shining silver armor while wielding Mjolnir in battle. 116
- Uses formal Asgardian ceremonial robes for diplomatic occasions. 246
- Visits Hawke Group discreetly in a dark blue suit, white shirt, silver-grey tie, and black shoes. 241
- His Reality Stone transformation covers him in silver armor flowing with red energy and produces a rune-marked lightning spear. 243
Personality
Thor begins his time on Midgard proud, impulsive, and accustomed to solving problems through direct force. He is initially willing to befriend Andrew only after seeing that Andrew possesses telekinesis, reflecting his belief that ordinary Midgardians are beneath a god’s companionship. 8
His exile and conflict with Loki deepen his sense of responsibility. He comes to view himself not merely as a powerful god, but as a guardian responsible for his people, his home, and Jane Foster. 10 11
As commander of Asgard’s forces against the Dark Elves, Thor increasingly values justice, unity, restraint, and strategy over war and conquest. Heimdall recognizes this as a major change from Thor’s earlier warrior-minded outlook. 117
Thor later develops into a diplomatic and politically minded leader, seeking an alliance with Xandar and openly challenging Zeus’s belief that Olympus should remain bound to its past glory. 241 535
