Clark, the Negative Example (Seeking Collections, Recommendations, Monthly Passes, Follow-ups, and Investments)
"Yeah, Robet, why were you shouting while you ran?" The Kents were quite accepting of extraordinary abilities—after all, they had Clark as a precedent—but they still couldn't understand Robet's habit of running around while going "rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat."
"Oh, I was just in a good mood. It reminded me of a legendary Saiyan warrior who often made that sound when he was little..." Robet explained with a grin and a helpless spread of his hands.
"But later, after he became a legendary warrior—and even the strongest among the Saiyans—he never made that sound again. Instead, people began to miss the pure joy and innocence he had as a child!"
"Saiyan? Is that your race? Do you know where you came from? We haven't even taken you to see the Spaceship yet..." The Kents froze for a moment. They hadn't expected Robet to have already learned of his origins.
"Robet is different from me. He was born carrying some memories of his own race. Before, his brain was protecting itself, so he seemed a little slow. Now that he's recovered, he actually knows more abilities than I do..." Clark explained Robet's unusual circumstances.
"And because of his race's special nature, he has an unusual obsession with adventure and training—exercise, that is. These past few days, whenever we went out, he was the one taking me to train."
Only then did the Kents nod in understanding. They finally knew how Robet had been hunting before. At that kind of speed, prey truly had no way to escape...
After exchanging a glance and falling silent for a while, the two looked at Robet with serious expressions and instructed him, "Since you have such extraordinary abilities and such a need for them, we can't stop you..."
"But we have one requirement for you—the same requirement we have for Clark. You must never casually reveal abilities beyond those of ordinary people in front of normal people!"
"You need to choose secluded routes for going to school too. Once you get near town, slow down. Don't let anyone notice you..."
"Don't worry, Mom, Dad. I'll be careful. Look, when Okinja and the others had guns this time, didn't I avoid exposing anything?" Robet said confidently.
Robet: `Confident
Hearing Robet's words, the Kents not only didn't refute him, but nodded in complete agreement. In their eyes, during the school shooting, Robet had clearly possessed special abilities yet hadn't revealed anything unusual. He had indeed handled it extremely well!
And if Clark had been Robet's age, he definitely wouldn't have been able to hide it so well!
Thinking of that, the Kents couldn't help glancing at Clark. They remembered all the times Clark had accidentally exposed his abilities as a child...
With that comparison, the difference was obvious!
Clark never could have dreamed that one day, he would become the negative example!
Especially since Clark knew the truth behind this shooting. He had come within inches of exposing Robet's well-behaved act, but in the end, Clark held himself back.
Because Clark didn't know whether this had all been part of Robet's plan. If he exposed Robet, then Robet might not be able to attend Midtown High School—and then Robet would have a perfectly legitimate excuse to go out adventuring and training openly...
Thinking of that, Clark shot Robet an annoyed glare and decided to give him a proper warning, especially since he had noticed that Robet didn't seem to have taken the Kents' instructions to heart.
Clark: (# ̄m ̄)
Soon, The Kent Family set out for home. Having seen Robet's speed, the Kents felt more and more that their old pickup truck was truly slow.
After they got home, Clark pulled Robet aside for another talk.
"I know you have more abilities than I do, but you still need to take what Mom and Dad said seriously. After all, we aren't the same as humans. If our abilities are truly exposed, it might not be a good thing for us..." Clark warned Robet with a solemn expression.
"So, you absolutely must be careful to hide yourself on the way to school. Don't let anyone discover you. Tomorrow, we'll scout things out first and see which route would be more suitable."
"Brother, hiding yourself isn't much of a problem for you, but you don't need to work so hard either, carefully suppressing your abilities all the time..." Robet shrugged and explained with a smile.
"I haven't ignored what Mom and Dad said, but we aren't the only unusual ones in this world. I believe other strong people do hide themselves, but they definitely wouldn't be so excessively cautious!"
"Hm? Have you discovered others who are different from ordinary people?" Clark's eyes lit up as he looked at Robet expectantly.
Granted, Clark possessed abilities similar to the clairvoyance and super-hearing described in myths, but he had never listened in on sounds unrelated to himself, much less gone around prying into other people's privacy.
More importantly, Clark couldn't sense powerful beings on the energy side. At most, he could see that some people had bodies stronger than ordinary humans, but he had no way to truly identify those stronger beings who hid themselves more deeply.
But Robet was different. Robet could use Ki to sense the existence of powerful beings. Even if those powerful beings had never trained in Ki, most living beings—and even objects—possessed Ki. Robet could make a preliminary judgment of their strength based on that Ki.
Take Clark, for example. Even though the Ki within him had been replaced by a special kind of energy, Robet could still distinguish Clark from everyone else through his Ki.
Of course, the Ki Robet sensed from Clark was far weaker than the energy Clark himself possessed. That also made Robet a little more wary—stronger Ki did not necessarily mean greater strength!
"My Ki is still very weak right now, but I can already vaguely sense some Ki that's stronger than an ordinary person's. The existence of this Ki proves that this world also has powerful beings who surpass ordinary people. Maybe some of them, like us, aren't from this Earth!" Robet explained with a smile.
"So there really are other people in this world who are different... That wasn't something I expected..." Clark's gaze flickered slightly. He seemed to feel relieved, yet also somewhat happy.
After returning home, Clark didn't display anything unusual, though his appetite was noticeably bigger than before. As for Robet, naturally, he had to go out for an extra meal.
Since Robet didn't need to attend school for the time being anyway, he simply increased his training time. After all, every training session let him feel his own growth. This body was far stronger than the one he had possessed back in Dragon Ball World.
Robet had to admit that Saiyans' potential for training truly far surpassed that of Earthlings, not to mention their combat ability...
