True Person Yu Yang was a contemporary of Blood God Sect leader True Person Xue He and had served as the Golden Sun Sect's Nascent Soul pillar for hundreds of years. At age 716, he estimated that combat damage and cultivation had left him with only around thirty years of life, despite the theoretical eight-hundred-year lifespan of Nascent Soul cultivators. 279

Before Bi Changsheng and Liu Zhengqing emerged, Yu Yang feared the Golden Sun Sect would lose its sole Nascent Soul cultivator without a successor.
