How Could I Be a Pure-blood Young Wizard? (Please Recommend and Bookmark; Investment Group Now Open)
Choose Gryffindor, or choose Slytherin?
This wasn't a question.
Because Jon didn't want to go to either House.
Both Houses certainly had their own advantages. If he chose Gryffindor, he would undoubtedly gain Dumbledore's favor and all the benefits that "The Savior," Harry Potter, would bring when he enrolled in the coming years. If he chose Slytherin, Jon was also confident he could quickly fit into the circle of Pure-blood Young Wizards and thrive among them.
But neither House had ever been within Jon's consideration.
The reason was simple. First, he didn't want to interfere too much with the original plotline.
Headmaster Dumbledore of Gryffindor and Head of House Snape of Slytherin were both masters of Legilimency. By not joining either House, the chances of facing those two masters directly would be greatly reduced.
Jon did have a few tricks to avoid Legilimency, such as avoiding eye contact or constructing a Hilbert space in his mind and encrypting it with mathematical equations. Unless Dumbledore and Snape were mathematics professors who could see the answer at a glance, there was no way they could instantly break through Jon's defenses.
But that would only draw even more attention to him. Snape was also a Potions Master, and Jon had no desire to test the effects of Veritaserum brewed by the Half-Blood Prince.
Another reason he didn't want to join either House was that no matter which one he joined, it would be difficult to maintain the neutral position he wanted.
Collective life gave people a strange sense of honor, and those living within it could easily be infected by emotions born of clear opposition.
Jon knew he wasn't someone with unshakable emotions. Once infected by that collective sentiment, he would inevitably use his foreknowledge of future developments and other information to gain an advantage. If that disrupted the original storyline, it would not be a good thing.
He had no interest at all in fighting Death Eaters, or even Voldemort, whose name could not be spoken.
What a joke. He had finally become a wizard—shouldn't he focus on improving his magical power, seeking immortality, and enjoying a good life? Why spend every day thinking about ruling the world?
"I want to go to Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff."
"...?"
Silence.
After a while, Bella finally withdrew the look she had been giving him as though she had seen some kind of monster. Frowning, she asked in a tone full of incomprehension, "Why? Those two Houses are both utterly unremarkable. Ravenclaw might at least have a few genius wizards who can make a name for themselves, but Hufflepuff is just... too ordinary."
Jon caught the hesitation in his cousin's words. She had probably wanted to say something like incompetent, but with Jon present, she hadn't put it so bluntly.
Jon didn't care about the contempt hidden in his cousin's words.
It couldn't be helped. That was simply the current state of Hogwarts. Hufflepuff House accepted all the students the other three Houses did not think highly of, making it look like a place that collected junk.
But that was exactly what Jon liked about that House. It took in all the students the other Houses did not value and gave those ordinary students a place to study. That human touch reminded Jon of certain stories from his previous life.
"Forget it. The Sorting Hat will help you make the decision anyway. What you think isn't important."
Bella completely gave up on the subject, then suddenly remembered something else. A smile appeared on her face again. "I heard maternal grandmother has something for you—a gift to congratulate you on becoming a Young Wizard."
"Really? What kind of gift?"
Jon put on an interested expression. Of course, he could vaguely guess what sort of gift he might receive, but playing along with his cousin and making her happy was obviously more important.
After all, the "unexpected" decision he had just made seemed to have already made his cousin a little unhappy.
"I don't know, but it should be something very precious. When I overheard Mom talking with maternal grandmother, I heard words like ancient and inheritance."
Bella seemed somewhat regretful that she couldn't explain it to her cousin, but the regret vanished in an instant. She continued, "The answer will be revealed at dinner tonight. I'd bet Aunt and maternal grandmother are definitely discussing it right now."
"Then why don't we go wait in the dining room now? I'm a little thirsty anyway."
Jon made a reasonable suggestion, and Bella immediately agreed.
When the cousins arrived in the dining room, the long dining table was already covered with fragrant dishes.
"Oh, Miss Bella, Young Master Jon, it isn't time for dinner yet. I think you've come too early."
Molly, Carica's mother, a middle-aged female House-elf, was setting down a plate of roast chicken. Seeing Jon and Bella enter the dining room, she spoke up to remind them.
Yasha Manor did not treat House-elves as cruelly as some Pureblood Families did. The Yang family's House-elves lived fairly well, and long-serving House-elves like Molly could even advise their "young masters" about certain behaviors.
Though if they refused to listen, there was nothing else she could do.
"Don't worry, Molly. We aren't very hungry yet, but could you bring me something to drink? I'd like some Watermelon Juice."
After speaking, Jon turned to Bella. Bella nodded as well, then said to the House-elf, "Orange juice for me."
Molly was very pleased that the two young masters were willing to eat their meals on time. She adjusted the angle of the roast chicken slightly, then vanished with a pop.
Bella ran off to the living room to eavesdrop on the adults' conversation. Jon did not sit at the dining table either, instead taking a seat beside a small round table placed in the corner of the dining room.
This little round table had once been placed in the garden for afternoon tea. After Madam Carolina replaced it with a new table, it had been moved here.
The drinks were delivered by Carica. Her mother was busy preparing dinner, after all, and there was not much time left before it began.
"If you're busy, go ahead. You don't need to wait on me here."
Jon was very fond of House-elves. He had liked these magical creatures with their extraordinary magical abilities ever since reading the Original Work.
Carica was already quite familiar with him. Hearing that, she did not stay, instead going to help her mother prepare dinner.
Jon sat in his chair with his eyes half-closed, savoring the Watermelon Juice. The icy taste made him feel very comfortable.
The comfort lasted less than a minute before Bella, who had just left, came rushing back in a flurry.
"Jon, Jon! I just heard Aunt and maternal grandmother say that you're actually a Pure-blood Wizard. Did you know that?"
"?"
Countless question marks seemed to pop up over Jon's head. "You didn't hear wrong, did you?"
His father was clearly an ordinary person. How could he possibly be a Pure-blood Wizard?
What kind of joke was that?
