Jon's Busy Day

After sleeping for a long time, Jon opened his eyes.

The aftereffects of Mana Overdraft had not faded. Instead, because he had rested so well, they had become even clearer. After sleeping for so long, Jon felt not only thirsty and weak, but also wave after wave of uncontrollable grogginess.

It was like drinking until he blacked out. The emptiness caused by Mana Drought felt far worse than a Hangover—the Magic Glasses had drained far too much from him. Even though his magic power exceeded that of wizards his age many times over, he still could not withstand the headache.

Where was I again?

Oh, I was in my own bed.

Then he saw the familiar ceiling before him, along with the Blue-purple Ripples painted across it.

Those ripples were originally meant to induce sleep, but looking at them now only made Jon want to throw up.

Hmm... that was another side effect from last night.

After that sleep, it felt as though he had been reborn all over again.

Jon forced himself to focus and began using the Meditation Method. The rate at which the magic power Inside the body replenished itself increased, and the headache eased considerably.

I should have meditated before going to sleep last night!

After lying in bed and recovering for a while, Jon finally left his room once his mind had cleared.

It was already past two in the afternoon.

He went downstairs to the living room. The House-elf, wearing an apron, poked his head out of the kitchen. "Master, you're awake? I just finished preparing afternoon tea. Would you like coffee, Pumpkin Juice, or—"

Before he could finish, Jon raised a hand and stopped him.

"No need. I'm not hungry at all. Just pour me some warm water."

It was not that he was truly not hungry. Kaledi looked so ridiculous in an apron that Jon wanted to laugh, but his head hurt whenever he did, so he did not feel very hungry. He only wanted Kaledi to take off those clothes as soon as possible.

After resting in the living room for a while and drinking a glass of water, Jon was finally no longer so hungry.

He went upstairs. The study door stood open, and there were drag marks on the floor. Kaledi had clearly cleaned it not long ago. It was so spotless that there was hardly anywhere to step.

Forget it. He would get used to it.

After all, he had decided to bring Hufflepuff's portrait back himself. Jon could not blame Kaledi for anything, and besides, the House-elf had done nothing wrong.

Only after entering the study and closing the door did Jon's head, which had only just begun to feel better, start spinning again.

The portrait on the wall was empty. Young Helga, who should have been smiling in it, was not there, so Jon had no way to tell Helga that he had arrived.

That was rather troublesome. Every time, he could not enter Helga's Magic Space on his own and could only wait for Helga to appear.

Forget it. He would do something else first.

Jon took out the manuscripts locked in the drawer and began calculating.

In a High-Magic Environment, precisely designed electronic devices were affected by the "Magnetic Field," causing them to malfunction. With the Ministry of Magic explicitly forbidding the misuse of Muggle items, many Wizarding Families gathered in High-Magic Environments kept only simple Muggle-made things.

Clocks, for example.

There were no poor people in the Wizarding World. The convenience of magic ensured that even wizards without any particular skills could provide food and shelter for themselves and their families. Houses could be handled with magic, food could be handled with magic—there was nothing needed for daily life that magic could not solve.

Therefore, only Young Wizards from Half-blood Families or Muggle-born backgrounds might have encountered electronic products from the Muggle world as children.

The place where Jon currently lived could not really be considered a High-Magic Environment, because this environment had originally been artificially created.

It used methods unique to the East. Although Jon could spot some clues through the Feng Shui knowledge he had learned in his previous life, he did not have the ability to alter it.

So he had no choice but to give up on watching television. Fortunately, newspapers were still delivered here every day. Besides The Daily Prophet, Local Town newspapers were delivered as well.

There was nothing new in Wizarding World newspapers, but newspapers from the Muggle world were quite interesting.

All kinds of Current Affairs Commentary appeared in the papers. Every sector of society voiced opinions about the state of affairs every day, expanding from Europe to Eurasia and then to the entire world, always trying to be as shocking as possible.

Those Western reporters always wanted to create some huge news story, but there was nothing practical about it.

After all, it was already January 1991. Jon, who knew that a certain superpower would soon collapse, had no interest in getting involved in the Muggle world's political situation—nor did he have the ability to do so.

But making some money would be easy enough. His reach was not long enough to extend over there, but he had no such reservations in Britain.

The Steel Pen in his hand swiftly wrote a line of letters on the paper. After carefully folding it and slipping it into his ring, Jon planned to return to Greenwich with his father in a couple of days.

If he was lucky this time, he might make a fortune.

After carefully noting down this matter, Jon took out a fresh sheet of paper and began writing a report.

<Feasibility Analysis of Simplifying Protective spells>.

This report was to be sent to Professor Sprout. During the early stages of the Club's establishment, everyone needed to be able to learn something. After observing for a long time, Jon had discovered the problems among the current members of the Hufflepuff Magic Research Society.

They lacked the habit of conducting research on their own. Every time, upper-year students discovered some result, and the lower-year students simply enjoyed the benefits.

If that were all, Jon would not have been too worried. They had not been studying magic for long, so it was perfectly normal for these students to lack such insight. The key was that the lower-year students actually felt guilty about "enjoying the benefits."

Guilt. Jon had not seen such a wonderful quality in years.

But having that wonderful quality appear in the Society now would only cause trouble.

Being overly polite was not a good thing. When others gave you their results to use, they hoped you could build upon them, not accept everything with guilt and then shelve it away.

So Jon began making changes within the scope of his abilities. After guiding several first- and second-year students into proposing a few ideas for simplifying Defense Charms, Jon decided to take the initiative and directly release the Improved and Formed spells, claiming they were the result of everyone's joint research. Surely that would inspire some students to research more actively.

Even if they could not become a key factor in a Magic Experiment, could they not at least imitate the earlier examples?

Jon wrote furiously. By the time he finished an entire paper, the sky had already begun to darken.

Kaledi came to relay a message, saying Bella was waiting for him in the living room to eat.

Jon copied the letters he had written on the table several times, then had Kaledi send them out before turning toward the next room.

His busy day had only just begun.
