Background / History

Dijun was a renowned Great Divine Ability User of the Primordial World and a leader of the Solar God Palace. Together with his younger brother Taiyi, he discovered the Heavenly Realm Ruins of the Thirty-Three Heavens; the brothers’ fortune resonated with the ruins, convincing Dijun that they were fated to establish a Yao Race Heavenly Court there. 26

To build this court, Dijun dispatched Bai Ze to approach Fuxi and Nuwa of Fengqi Mountain, while Ji Meng was sent to offer Kunpeng a Demon Emperor position. Fuxi and Nuwa accepted, but Kunpeng rejected the offer, unwilling to live beneath the Dijun-Taiyi brothers. 26 27 Dijun believed Kunpeng would eventually submit once the Heavenly Court’s power became overwhelming. 27

Dijun and Taiyi then sacrificed to Hongjun’s sacred statue in the chaos beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens, seeking approval to establish the Demon Race and Heavenly Court. Hongjun permitted their undertaking, though he privately judged Dijun to be a figure who “lacks the favor of the times.” 27 With Fengqi Mountain’s support, Dijun established the Yao Race and opened the Heavenly Court from Lingxiao Palace. 28

At the Heavenly Emperor enthronement, Dijun received an office connected to the Heavenly Dao, allowing his Great Sun and Supreme Yang Dao to manifest. He used this opportunity to sever his Evil Corpse and became a Late Quasi-Saint. 51

Personality

Dijun is ambitious, calculating, and highly conscious of legitimacy. He does not merely seek power through force: he argues that the Heavenly Court must follow the “righteous path of the Heavenly Emperor” if it is to command the Primordial World securely. 27 His recruitment of Fuxi, Nuwa, and Kunpeng, as well as his efforts to divide interests with allied lineages, reflect a ruler attentive to political foundations. 26 27

He is also perceptive enough to suspect that the conduct of himself and Taiyi at Purple Firmament Palace may have been manipulated by the Sage or Heavenly Dao. However, he conceals this suspicion even from Taiyi, believing neither possible manipulator can be safely offended. 27

Dijun’s desire to secure Heavenly Court supremacy repeatedly turns ruthless. He forces Tengshe, Demon Sages, and Demon Gods to surrender wisps of their true spirits to the Monster Summoning Banner under the pretext of protecting them in war. 68 During the destruction of Purple Mansion Prefecture, he is willing to unleash the Sun Star’s power despite the devastating cost to living beings. 73 74

Despite his severity, Dijun is devoted to his bloodline. When his ten sons’ uncontrolled True Sun Fire repeatedly harms Heavenly Court demons, he sends them to Tanggu both to temper their bloodlines and preserve internal unity. 107 After nine princes die and Xihe is lost, he entrusts the last Golden Crow prince to Nuwa for protection. 133
