Locations and Infrastructure
- Yun City Imperial Army Shelter — An eastern-suburb shelter covering five million square meters, protected by walls roughly 300 meters high and expanded through nine underground levels. It was built to house up to three million people. 11 17
- Yun City Military Region — The military authority that organized rescues, operated satellite surveillance, and initially directed the city's defenses. 11 17
- Yun City Zoo Shelter — A large shelter built at the city's largest monkey zoo after Mu Qingxue purchased the site and invested tens of billions in its rapid construction. 11
- Qingyun High School — Gu Qijue's temporary base after he left the underground boxing ring; the campus retained a dedicated well and three generators. 20 21
- City Center — Site of Yun City's abnormal mutation tree, later identified as the Main Star-Sucking Tree. 31 37
- Yun River — A river roughly fifty kilometers from the city center; the mutation tree's fragrance drew aquatic monsters from its waters onto land. 31
History
Initial Mutation Outbreak
Yun City was devastated during the opening of the mutation apocalypse. Seventy percent of its population mutated, while enormous numbers of animals, insects, birds, rats, and ants became mutated creatures. The Imperial Army conducted overnight rescue operations but was forced to retreat in places due to heavy casualties and dwindling ammunition. 8 17
The military had made advance preparations after receiving warnings of the coming apocalypse. Its Eastern Suburb Military Region cleared local monsters and opened an underground shelter, while fighter formations later entered the city to identify and bomb mutated creatures with thermal imaging. Flying mutated creatures counterattacked, causing fighter jets to fall. 11
Mutation Tree Crisis
Nine deep-blue mutation trees emerged across Yun City on the second day of the apocalypse. Their fruits could raise the Super Martial Star level of Super Martial Artists and rapidly evolve mutated creatures, causing violent competition around every tree. 17
The city-center tree became the focal point of military and civilian forces. General Lin Zhengxiao initially ordered rocket strikes against it, intending to destroy both the tree and Gu Qijue, who was near it. 18
A later tree in the city center proved vastly more dangerous. It grew to 2,500 meters, pierced the clouds, and produced hundreds of thousands of starlit fruits, drawing tens of millions of land and aquatic mutated creatures toward it. 32
Alignment with Gu Qijue
As the city-center tree threatened Yun City, Ye Zhanguo and the shelter's high command suppressed Lin Zhengxiao and chose to place the shelter under Gu Qijue's command. The shelter also separated from the Emperor Abyss Group and began a worldwide livestream under Yun City's name to display Gu Qijue's strength. 32 33
Gu Qijue ordered the arriving Super Martial Artists to harvest Star Fruits and withdraw rather than fight greedily for more. 33 After the crisis escalated, more than 3,000 Super Martial Artists, alongside strange creatures and mutated evolvers, gathered in the city's operations hall under his authority. 38
Main Star-Sucking Tree
The abnormal city-center tree was identified as the Main Star-Sucking Tree, a destructive organism that drains the Star Blue Continent's core energy. Its roots spread throughout Yun City and into the planet's core, while subsidiary trees began growing Star-Sucking Monsters across the city. 34 35
The tree absorbed and dried out an estimated seventy to eighty percent of Yun City's original mutated-creature population. Its growth left the city filled primarily with Star-Sucking Monsters, which also attacked and devoured other mutated creatures. 37
By this point, the Main Star-Sucking Tree was guarded by more than two million Seventh- and Eighth-Order Star-Sucking Monsters. A huge black cocoon pulsed at its summit, while roots covered nearly all of Yun City's ground. 40
