Chapter 16: Infinite Energy
[Cube Remnant Energy]:
A new energy source developed from the Tesseract, capable of granting tanks and firearms astonishing destructive power. It is an infinite energy that exists in concept.
Blue Item Card.
Draw?
The above were the card messages displayed by the cube-shaped blue energy source.
"My god..." Kyle's face showed shock. His usually steady heart couldn't help but waver. He hadn't expected to be dealing with a divine item from the Marvel world so soon.
The Tesseract! A divine item in the truest sense, the earliest container for the Space Stone on Earth. And the Space Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones, was a cosmic artifact.
"That makes sense. During World War II, the Tesseract was found by Hydra and used to develop and produce endless energy for the war."
Kyle looked at the energy cube before him, filled with trepidation. He broke out in a cold sweat for himself and the American troops in the temporary combat zone.
To this day, this energy had not been deployed on the front lines. It was clear that the German Army had only recently manufactured it and had not yet officially put it into use.
If they hadn't known this information, facing the German Army suddenly boosted by new energy, the front lines in Europe could have faced utter devastation!
However, it was now a fortunate coincidence for me.
Kyle excitedly picked up an energy cube. One cube could serve as a blue item card. High-quality items like these were the best materials for sacrificing and drawing.
"There are over twenty of these in this box, aren't there?"
Just as Kyle was about to start drawing cards, a faint sound came from behind him. His expression changed. Before he could react, the back of his head was pressed against cold metal.
"Don't move. If you move, I'll blow your head off." The man behind him spoke in German. With a click, the safety on his handgun was disengaged.
Careless.
Kyle tensed his body, sighing inwardly. He hadn't expected to let his guard down while drawing cards, nor had he expected that this hidden basement was already occupied.
"Put down what you're holding and raise your hands," the man continued in a commanding, forceful tone.
"Don't shoot," Kyle said, placing the energy cube back into the box and raising his hands.
Facing this life-or-death crisis, Kyle remained calm, contemplating his options.
The simplest solution was to directly use his stealth's forced transfer ability to leave the enemy base. However, this was a last resort, only to be used if absolutely necessary.
"Very good. I didn't expect you to speak German. Truly worthy of being a 'rat' from the American army who managed to infiltrate my base," the man said coldly, showing no immediate intention to shoot. This made Kyle dismiss the idea of forced transfer.
"What are you doing here?" the man continued to ask. This time, Kyle remained silent.
"Heh, I'll find a way to make you talk," the man snorted, keeping the pistol pressed against Kyle's head. With his other hand, he pulled out a walkie-talkie. "Hello, this is Officer Leo. Send soldiers to the basement of Warehouse Two immediately. There's a little American rat here..."
So this guy was Officer Leo, the one who had requested the girls' supplies. He was likely also the highest commander of this large base.
Kyle kept his hands raised, unmoving. But at some point, a card had silently materialized, held between his fingers.
"Officer Leo."
Before the man behind him could finish speaking into the walkie-talkie, Kyle suddenly spoke with cold indifference, "Do you know a saying in our hometown?"
Officer Leo paused slightly, hung up the walkie-talkie, and asked coldly, "What saying?"
He pressed the pistol tightly against the back of Kyle's head, ready to pull the trigger at the slightest movement.
Kyle replied softly, "The saying is: Villains die from talking too much."
"Villain?"
Officer Leo frowned. Before he could comprehend the meaning of the phrase, a vicious dog suddenly emerged from the nearby darkness. Its ferocious fangs glinted menacingly as it bit down hard on his gun-wielding wrist.
[Vicious Dog]: Summons a ferocious rabid dog to fight for you.
Green Creature Card.
"Aaaah!" Officer Leo clutched his arm and fell to the ground, howling. The vicious dog seemed to be a large breed, possibly a Tibetan Mastiff, with glowing green eyes. Its astonishing bite force tore away a large chunk of flesh from his wrist, exposing bone.
"Tonight, I am the protagonist, and you are naturally the villain."
Kyle's lips curved into a smile as he stroked the dog's fluffy fur.
"Please, don't kill me. Even if you kill me, you won't be able to leave here alive!" Driven by a strong survival instinct, the previously imposing and iron-willed Officer Leo began to beg for mercy.
"Don't worry, I won't kill you," Kyle said with a smile. Before Officer Leo's face could show any joy, Kyle's next words drained all color from it. "I hate it when people point a gun at my head. So, you'll just be dog food."
As soon as he finished speaking, as if understanding Kyle's command, the vicious dog next to him roared and lunged, biting directly onto Officer Leo's neck.
Ignoring the man's screams and the hellish scene of the vicious dog gnawing on a human body, Kyle began to draw from the energy cubes in the basement.
After all, even at a rate of once every three seconds, it would take over a minute to process over twenty energy cubes. And with the commander's communication call, German soldiers from the base would surely be converging on this location.
"In one minute, I need to disable the base's defense system and break out of the enemy base. Time is a bit tight!"
Kyle raised an eyebrow but didn't stop drawing energy item cards. Instead, he took out another creature card from his card space.
[Poisonous Wasp Nest]: Summons a wasp nest containing hundreds of wasps. The wasps are highly venomous and can cause death within half an hour. Rare Green Item Card.
Current Status: One-time summon, lasts for half an hour. Use?
"This is when you'll be most useful," Kyle said meaningfully.
Within the mountain forest near the large base.
Over a hundred American soldiers hid with grim expressions. Their leader, Sergeant Fury, clenched his fists, unable to sit still, anxiously awaiting something.
"Sergeant Fury, the scheduled raid time is almost here. What should we do?" George couldn't help but ask.
"Let's wait a bit longer," Fury said in a deep voice, though he himself didn't know what they were waiting for.
Perhaps Kyle hadn't even infiltrated the base yet and had already been killed.
Even if Kyle managed to sneak into the base, how could he, on his own, dismantle a defense system composed of thousands of soldiers and superior equipment?
"Let's wait another five minutes. If there's no activity from the large base after five minutes, we'll immediately cancel the raid and return." Fury took a deep breath. Just then, surprised shouts came from the soldiers beside him.
"Sergeant Fury! The enemy's large base seems to be showing some activity!"
