Background and History

Nuwa creates the first humans with clay, balancing male and female life. Qin Mu guides her and helps produce the founding population. Nuwa becomes their Holy Mother, while Qin Mu arranges protection for the new race 86 88.

At Kongtong Mountain, the Human Race’s ancestral land, Suiren Shi, Youchao Shi, and Ziyi Shi pioneer fire, shelter, and clothing. Huang Tian—Qin Mu’s human clone—later defeats the three ancestors and becomes the first Human Emperor. He develops the Martial Dao so humans can cultivate through a method suited to them 91 94 102.

The Yao Race discovers that human heart’s essence blood can help a weapon pierce Witch Clan defenses and begins slaughtering human tribes to forge the Witch Slaying Sword. Huang Tian leads the Human Race into war against the Yao Heavenly Court. The conflict ends by decree of Dao Ancestor Hongjun, after heavy losses on both sides; Huang Tian subsequently brings back Suiren Shi and other fallen humans with help from the Underworld 162 198 204 214 216.

• Holy Mother deposed: The race gathers at Kongtong Mountain to honor its war dead. Huang Tian then announces Nuwa’s removal as Holy Mother, accusing her of failing to protect the humans during their suffering and the Yao massacres 238 239 241.
• Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors: The Heavenly Dao signals their emergence as a path toward human prosperity. Their era brings both succession struggles and renewed unification of divided tribes 388 431 461 503.
• Dynastic era: After Da Yu establishes the Xia Dynasty, the Human Race moves from the era of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors into the era of dynasties 592.
• Human Emperor Realm: The race’s senior figures generally leave outside affairs to the reigning co-ruler, reserving intervention for a crisis threatening the race’s survival 570 592.
