In Stark Tower.
"Tony, can't you just calm down for once? It's always me cleaning up your messes. Do you know how much..."
"Stop, stop, Rhodey. This isn't my fault this time. This guy came looking for trouble himself. I was just... retaliating unexpectedly."
Even Rhodey, who was specifically responsible for cleaning up Tony's messes, felt overwhelmed. The military was already a complicated place.
Recently, that damn Ross had stirred up this whole mess, and the military hadn't reached a conclusion yet. Nobody knew how to clean up this disaster.
If they actually went to war with them, no one would have the guts. General James's bloody example was still fresh.
Although it was his own doing, in politics, this was normal. He was just too unlucky.
Who knew what the Blood God was thinking, to bestow blessings on someone like Ross? What kind of way was that to do things?
He was already annoyed, and Tony's constant troublemaking for the past three days was truly unbearable.
"So, you're saying you were playing with your battle suit at home, happened to reach the weapons firing part, and then this guy fell from the sky, causing a vibration that made you fire a shot, which coincidentally hit him?"
"Yeah, that's right. You summarized it perfectly. That's just like you."
Rhodey rolled his eyes. He didn't believe a word Tony said. So many coincidences, even a dog wouldn't believe it, and he expected Rhodey to? It was ridiculous!
"Being your brother means a lifetime of hard work."
Rhodey sighed. Having a friend like this was truly his misfortune. His career hadn't advanced much, but he certainly did a lot of work. It wasn't entirely in vain, at least he was tired.
"Don't joke around, Rhodey. You came at the perfect time. I have something serious to discuss with you."
"Save it, Tony. Are you still dwelling on being attacked and wanting me to help you silence the witness? That guy's already in such a state, it's no different from being dead. Let him go, you big capitalist."
Rhodey had also seen the medical reports from the hospital. He couldn't understand the professional jargon, but he grasped the general meaning.
Even if this Russian survived, he would spend the rest of his life in bed. It was fortunate he had a strong physique to not die on the spot after falling from such a height. Truly, God's protection.
There would never be another person as lucky as him. And with his injuries, if Rhodey himself suffered such severe wounds, he'd rather be dead.
"Rhodey, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm referring to why he had a battle suit similar to mine, and even an Arc Reactor.
Obtaining this technology isn't easy. I want to know how he got it, and how many people have mastered this technology."
And why The Gh'gth Revelations was in his hands.
Tony added this last sentence in his mind, but it wasn't suitable to tell Rhodey about such things.
Speaking of The Gh'gth Revelations, Tony had obtained it some time ago, but he hadn't opened it yet.
For no other reason than the fear in his heart.
It was as if opening the book and seeing its contents would lead to some terrible event.
"I thought I was the only one in the world who could make an Arc Reactor. Now, that Russian has become the second person to master this technology.
Rhodey, I need your help. I need to know if there's a third person, or even more, who has mastered this technology."
Rhodey shrugged. He had already done countless similar tasks for Tony, so doing one more wouldn't hurt.
"So, what do you want me to do?"
"That Russian is in the ICU. Just keep him under control for me. Make sure no one else comes into contact with him. Once he's out of danger and wakes up, then notify me."
Rhodey nodded, then asked a question.
"What if that Russian doesn't make it and dies in the ICU, or if he never wakes up?"
"Then there's no need to worry about it anymore."
After saying this, Tony got up, preparing to leave for the laboratory.
"Hey, Tony, where are you going? What are you planning to do?"
Tony stopped and turned around, looking at his friend. His lips moved, and finally, he spoke, "Rhodey, it's best you don't know about this. It won't do you any good."
"You know me, Tony. I'm never afraid of challenges or danger. But if you're saying this so seriously, then I have to remind you to proceed with caution.
Since you've made up your mind, I'll do as you say and keep that Russian under control. But you have to promise me that you'll tell me immediately if you find anything, whether good or bad."
Rhodey's words carried a hint of undeniable determination.
Tony nodded, a flash of gratitude in his eyes. "Of course, Rhodey. You'll always be my strongest support. I'll proceed with caution and ensure your safety is not threatened.
As for that secret, perhaps one day I'll tell you. But by then, I hope you won't be scared away."
With that, Tony turned and walked towards the laboratory, his steps carrying an inexplicable sense of urgency.
Rhodey, on the other hand, stood where he was, watching Tony's retreating figure, his mind filled with confusion. He really hated this riddle-like behavior.
But he knew Tony's personality. Once he decided to do something, he would never give up easily. Since he decided not to tell him, he wouldn't say a word until he was sure it was safe and under control.
Walking on the path to the laboratory, Tony felt an inexplicable sense of dread.
That book, The Gh'gth Revelations, he had left it in the laboratory. Tony wasn't carrying it with him. Such a forbidden book, Tony instinctively wanted to stay away from it.
But at this moment, Tony felt an irresistible force pulling him, forcing him to confront that fear and uncover the truth behind The Gh'gth Revelations.
In the laboratory, the lights were soft and bright, and various high-tech equipment flickered with a cold glow. Tony walked straight to the specially made laboratory table, where the carefully protected The Gh'gth Revelations was placed.
Tony slowly reached out, his fingertips gently touching the cover. An inexplicable chill spread from his fingertips throughout his body.
He carefully flipped through the pages, afraid of disturbing the ancient power slumbering within. As the pages turned, he realized this was only the first volume.
This made Tony frown. Did he have to keep looking?
He saw the death of his parents, saw the rise of the Red Hulk, and then...
"Tony Stark is about to die from palladium poisoning. So, will he have a chance to find the answer his father never could?"
Upon reading this, Tony's pupils suddenly widened!
