Benjamin returned to the temporary laboratory. The moment he shut the door, he let out a long breath.

Just then, thirteen Natives had besieged him at once, and the Return to Void Armor's defense had nearly collapsed in an instant.
If the Fate System hadn't been strong enough, he really might have gone down in there today.
But it had been worth it.
He walked over to the lab bench and sat down, raising a hand to swipe through the air. Dozens of light screens unfolded at once.
They were densely packed with the data he had collected just now: the battle process, information fragments, spell operation logs—everything. Benjamin's gaze swept across the data before finally settling on the failure records of the Causal Shadow Tracing Technique.
Previously, he had used the Causal Shadow Tracing Technique on three Information Beings. Aside from the first one, he had basically used it several times on each of the others.
In total, he had cast the Causal Shadow Tracing Technique seven times, and every failure had occurred for a different reason.
Benjamin stared at those seven failure reasons, but a faint smile instead curved his lips.
Interesting.
If the Causal Shadow Tracing Technique had been completely ineffective against these Information Beings, then the reasons for failure should all have been the same.
For example, "Target is immune to this type of spell," or "Unable to lock onto the target at the information level."
But all seven failures had different reasons.
What did that mean?
It meant he was headed in the right direction.
He simply hadn't found the right method yet.
It was like picking a lock. The key was wrong, but the lock cylinder really could turn.
As long as he kept trying, he would eventually find the right key.
