Sundays at university were always slow and leisurely.
Xiaoguang rolled over comfortably under the morning sun streaming through the window. Just as he was about to continue enjoying the warmth of his bed, the rhythmic clicking of a mouse and clattering of a keyboard gradually reached his ears.
He turned his head to look beneath the bed, then fished his phone out from under his pillow.
"What the hell are you doing? Playing CSGO at eight in the morning? No wonder I dreamed someone next to me was playing games..."
"Couldn't sleep, so I got up to practice my aim," Su Zhe replied casually.
"You think you're some corporate slave going to work? Even corporate slaves aren't as hardworking as you." Xiaoguang lay on his back and complained, "I know you want to reach B rank, but practicing your aim is worse than burning incense. Having good aim isn't as useful as having good luck. If you run into a carry, getting promoted is easy."
Su Zhe turned around and asked, "Is that why you dropped to C rank yesterday afternoon?"
While Su Zhe had been taking a nap and studying the system yesterday, Xiaoguang had spent the entire afternoon grinding ranked matches. In more than ten games, he had only won two.
Players at C+ rank were a mixed bag. There were guys who could instantly pull out and tap heads, as well as happy-go-lucky players who asked, "Guess how far my Bizon spray reached." Some wanted to climb, while others treated it purely as entertainment. Players without outstanding skill who still wanted to rank up could only rely on luck.
So rather than hope for good luck and a carry, Su Zhe wanted to become the carry himself.
Remembering yesterday's ranked experience, Xiaoguang sighed. "I've figured it out now. We play games; games don't play us. It doesn't matter whether we rank up anymore. What's the point of practicing aim so hard?"
"Because I want to go pro," Su Zhe answered casually.
Xiaoguang froze upon hearing that, then laughed. "Going pro is great. You want to try for TYLOO's youth training camp too?"
"Give it some time."
"...Well, good luck, then!"
Although the new semester of their freshman year had only just begun and they had known each other for barely over a month, Xiaoguang had already seen through what kind of person Su Zhe was.
It was nothing more than a three-minute burst of enthusiasm. He had probably watched some exciting highlights or pro player clips and gotten carried away again.
He would probably lose patience in a few days. After all, Xiaoguang himself was the same way.
Su Zhe ignored Xiaoguang and continued working hard to complete his daily mission.
He understood the implication behind his roommate's words, but it was only normal. If the system did not exist, he felt that he really would not be able to persist for more than a few days.
After all, talent had its limits. No matter how hard one worked, there would always be a ceiling. How could an ordinary person continuously devote their energy to something whose future could not be seen at a glance?

After finishing his daily training mission, Su Zhe looked pleasantly surprised at the Rise Points that had arrived.
He had not expected the reward to increase rather than diminish. That meant this mechanical aim training was still greatly improving him!
Then, with a thought, a translucent system panel appeared before his eyes.
[Host: Su Zhe] [Age: 18] [Team: None] [Positioning: 32-37] [Movement: 17-22] [Recoil Control: 20-25] [Game Sense: 21-26] [Reaction: 51-56] [Weapon Proficiency: AK-47 (LV2.6) (Expand)] [Rise Points: 768] [Skill: Chosen One] [Overall Evaluation: The best time to plant a tree was ten years ago. The second-best time is now. Although you once squandered your talent recklessly, it is still not too late to start. Keep going—the future belongs to you!] [Mission One: .]
Looking at the data panel, Su Zhe quickly noticed the differences from yesterday.
Before going to sleep last night, he had opened the system panel several times out of curiosity and remembered the previous data clearly. After finishing his aim training today, both the upper and lower limits of his [Positioning] and [Recoil Control] had increased by one point.
And his AK proficiency had also increased by 0.1!
Could he improve this quickly without using system points? He suddenly thought of the [Chosen One] skill. His tremendous improvement after two days of effort must have been related to it.
It was practically a permanent trial card for a genius teenager!
In high spirits, Su Zhe looked at his Perfect World platform score and clicked Start Matchmaking.
He planned to take advantage of his hot hand and attempt the trial once more! It would also help him overcome the inner demon that had troubled him for so long.
Matchmaking on a Sunday morning was slow. Only after waiting three minutes did Su Zhe receive the successful match notification.
The map was still his most familiar one, Dust II, and Su Zhe started on the defending side.
Once all ten players had entered the game, the match officially began.
There was no communication at the start. Everyone chose their positions according to where they had spawned.
Su Zhe had spawned fairly close to B. Seeing his teammates head out in a 3A-1B setup, he decided to use his USP to take a few lottery shots through Lower Tunnel.
When he saw a Terrorist dry-peek toward the barrels, his crosshair swiftly made a slight adjustment following the Terrorist's movement.
"Pfft, pfft! Bang!"

The Terrorists behind him showed no fear after seeing their teammate go down. Instead, they boldly dry-peeked Mid, preparing to speed up through Short.
Faced with opponents who were practically live targets, Su Zhe had no reason to retreat. He once again lined up his USP.
"Pfft, pfft, pfft!"

"So juicy! So juicy!" Seeing the kill feed in the upper right corner, Su Zhe's teammates all turned on their mics to congratulate him.
After watching their teammates get picked off one after another by the CT in Lower Tunnel, the remaining two Terrorists lost their nerve.
One hid at Mid Long, while the other crouched behind A Doors and held his angle. But the CTs soon began actively hunting them down.
After winning the pistol round without any surprises, Su Zhe's defending side began taking rounds as usual.
Although Dust II had once been an attacking map in professional matches, in ranked games—especially low-ranked matches lacking coordination—the defending side was actually better at taking rounds.
As they kept winning rounds early on, communication among Su Zhe's teammates improved more and more.
Meanwhile, after losing several rounds in a row, the attacking side was starting to look like it had given up.
[ni Give Me a KO] pressed TAB and checked the scoreboard.
"Is that First Entry Fragger from Cape Corner smurfing? He's 12-3 after only six rounds!"
His roommate, [Delicious, Love It, Eat More], nodded. "Most likely. That bastard peeked out and one-tapped me earlier. He's definitely not from around here. Damn smurf! Hope the carry is on our side next game!"
Su Zhe felt his touch getting better and better with each kill, while the opposing attackers were practically turning into defenders. At the start of each round, they simply stood outside A Long Doors and at Mid Long, holding angles and trading shots.
Yet even with advantageous positions, they still could not win direct duels. They sprayed half a magazine from their AKs without seeing their opponent fall.
By the side switch, the score had reached 9-3.
At the start of the second-half pistol round, Su Zhe organized a rush B.
He had the best stats on the team, so his words carried the most weight. The group was like nimble mountain dogs, all buying half armor before charging toward the bombsite while howling.
The two CTs defending B had no utility at all and could only rely on their aim. They were quickly focused down by a swarm of Glocks.
With such a huge score advantage and solid communication within the team, no unexpected comeback occurred.
Soon, the final score settled at 13-6.
