Background / History
Anderson was a treasure hunter and Hunter-pathway Beyonder active in the Misty Sea. He joined an expedition to investigate a religious mural depicting an angel leading pilgrims through a parted sea. After viewing it, the expedition was struck by extreme misfortune; Anderson’s companions either mutated into monsters, died in storms, or were killed by monsters. He survived as the strongest member of the group, but was stranded on an island in the Divine War Ruins under the same curse. 419 420
He encountered Luther after Luther returned from the Spirit Realm. Anderson initially tried to manipulate him by claiming shared faith in the “Lord,” only to be nearly killed when Luther revealed his hatred for the True Creator. Anderson promptly admitted the lie and gave Luther the information he had on the mural and his expedition. 420
With no ship available, Anderson agreed to perform a ritual to The Fool so that Luther could obtain a vessel. He then served as Luther’s guide through the Divine War Ruins, warning him not to look directly at the Sun Chariot and teaching him the basics of sailing. 424 427 428
During their voyage, Anderson and Luther attacked the black-sailed ship of the King of the Undying’s forces. Anderson defeated the pirate crew with his Hunter abilities while Luther handled Gilsaith, the King of the Undying’s Second Mate. The two divided the loot, bounties, and Beyonder characteristics from the encounter. 431 432 433
After Luther became a Sequence 4 Black Knight, Anderson’s association with the Blood Monk became public. He was subsequently caught up in the conflicts around Toscat Island, resisted a demigod’s mental control, and was rescued by Luther from Gluttony. The incident made his alliance with Luther unmistakable and left him wanted by the local authorities and Storm Church. 452 459 460 461 464
Anderson formally became First Mate of Luther’s fleet. He recruited locals on Toscat Island, helped seize a pirate ship, raised the Blood Pirate Group’s black skull flag on Blue Mountain Island, and led attacks against colonial defenses and Bayam’s naval forces. 466 472 500 505
He later disclosed that he came from the Church of Knowledge, explaining his extensive occult knowledge and ritual proficiency. He remained loyal to Luther despite his fear of the captain’s power. 470 471
Councilor Ruchord of the School of Life removed Anderson’s long-running misfortune with a gold coin on Olavi Island. 486
When Luther left the fleet to return to the North Continent, he appointed Anderson to manage it in his absence and entrusted him with a Sequence 4 Hunter-pathway characteristic as an advance reward. 582 590

Personality
Anderson is outwardly cheerful, quick-witted, and adaptable, even when trapped in life-threatening circumstances. After learning Luther had no ship, he rapidly moved from despair to proposing that they build a canoe together. 420
He can be manipulative and provocative, attempting to use Incitement and a fabricated shared faith to persuade Luther into helping him. However, he recognizes overwhelming danger quickly and is willing to apologize, cooperate, or retreat when necessary. 420
Despite repeatedly expressing fear, regret, and reluctance over being associated with the Blood Monk, Anderson displays resilience under pressure. He resisted a Spectator demigod’s manipulation, risked his life to warn Luther, and later accepted responsibility for Luther’s fleet. 459 460 582
