Yet the instant Pei Ling stepped through the entrance, a shadowy figure appeared out of thin air in an empty room deep within the schoolhouse.

Then, amid the patter of rain, bolts of purple lightning streaked across the sky, illuminating the dim room. Black and white pieces fell onto the board one after another, and before long, an unfinished game had been set up...

He hovered in the air, narrowing his eyes as he studied the formation before him. He didn't recklessly charge inside.
