Background
The Evil God Cult is a mysterious emerging religion in the Land of Hot Water. It exploits anger toward the Five Great Nations, local nobles, and Yugakure’s perceived passivity, presenting the country’s suffering as proof that the existing order must be purged. Its followers believe the Evil God’s arrival will erase sin and elevate the Land of Hot Water into a “Sixth Great Nation.” 27 28
Its doctrine calls for indiscriminate killing of ninjas, civilians, nobles, and daimyō, followed by a mass-sacrifice ritual to summon the Evil God. The promised reward is not peace in a conventional sense, but “eternal torment” under the deity’s rule. 27
By the time Uchiha Ci encounters the cult, it controls territory in the Land of Hot Water and is widely regarded as one of the region’s most dangerous forces. Its doctrine spreads rapidly among desperate civilians, while its members round up children and ninjas for rituals. 29
Doctrine and Operations
- The cult condemns the “seven deadly sins” of the Five Great Nations, Land of Hot Water nobles, and Hot Water ninjas during public sermons. 28
- It distributes food to impoverished villagers before demanding “offerings” for its communion rites. 28
- Its core tenet is the extermination of “all those around,” framed as a necessary purge before the Evil God’s descent. 27 29
- It uses refugees as informants, recruits samurai, and maintains strict security around the route to its underground headquarters. 40
- Cultists bind abducted civilians to crosses and prepare firewood, awls, chains, and iron nails for a large-scale sacrificial ceremony. 40
- The organization hired an underground bounty exchange to capture Hidan alive for its ritual. 40
Dress and Symbols
- High-necked, waist-cinching black robes. 28
- Leather scripture boxes fastened to the forearm. 28
- A necklace bearing the Evil God Cult’s symbol, carried by the Bishop. 40
- Pitch-Black Spears—concealable, expandable weapons used for ambushes and self-harm during curse rituals. 28

Abilities & Ritual Techniques
Blood Curses and Ritual Secret Techniques
Powerful cult members use blood curses and ritual secret techniques capable of creating lethal advantages during an initial encounter. 27
- The local leader attempts to obtain Uchiha Ci’s blood through his Pitch-Black Spear, as Ci believes even blood left on the ground could enable the cult’s Blood Death Mirror or Blood Control techniques. 30 31
- The leader draws a circle-and-triangle ritual formation and activates Curse Technique: Blood of the Dead, severely injuring Ci’s right leg from a distance. 32
- The curse is interrupted when Ci knocks the leader out of the ritual circle and kills him. 33
- The local leader lacks the cult’s claimed immortal body; his own blood loss leaves him weakened and vulnerable. 33
Immortal Body Research
The cult seeks to create an “immortal body” through its sacrifices and secret arts. 26 33
- A Bishop dispatches elites to retrieve a child with a special physique for experimentation. 33
- The Bishop believes the child could allow the cult to create a monster with an immortal body and please the Evil God. 33
- Hidan believes cult sacrifices and scriptures can grant immortality and access to curse techniques, motivating his initial interest in joining. 27
Combat Training
Several documented cultists are former rogue ninjas from the Land of Hot Water at Chunin level. 30 32
- Members coordinate ambushes with concealed Pitch-Black Spears. 30
- Madou prepares Wind Release during the group’s battle against Uchiha Ci. 31
- Takeshi uses the low-tier, eighteen-hand-seal version of Water Release: Great Waterfall Technique. 32
