The instant he stopped the ball, Tokugawa swept his racket forward, leaving a clear blue gleam in its wake. The tennis ball vanished from beside him.

The second singles position should originally have been his. He hadn't expected Antonio to take it, but he knew how strong Antonio was, so he hadn't said much.
