Uchiha Mai vaulted down into the center of the stage.
Compared with Hizuki Jun, who looked like a noble girl, Uchiha Mai, with his postmodern outfit and dark red hair, looked more like a band's lead singer.
Hizuki Jun dipped his head slightly and said softly, "I saw how strong you were several days ago, Mai.
"I know I'm no match for you, but for my team's sake, I have no choice but to challenge you, even if I'm overestimating myself.
"Please go easy on me."
"I will."
Uchiha Mai nodded slightly. Mei Terumi had spared Shangfeng, so he would return the favor and spare Hizuki Jun.
"I don't mean to assume your gender..."
Uchiha Mai suddenly asked, "I'm curious. Are you actually a woman?"
"Uh?"
Hizuki Jun froze for a moment. He raised his arms and looked himself over, then asked in confusion, "Why would you say that, Mai?
"My gender is, of course, unquestionably female.
"Did I do something rude without realizing it? Did I act like a man and make you doubt my gender?"
"No, it's not you." Uchiha Mai shook his head.
Of course. There couldn't be that many men like Haku. Most people in this world were still normal.
Their conversation over, Hizuki Jun slowly raised his hands. Wisps of cold air curled around his fingers as he said softly, "Then forgive me!"
Before his words had faded, Uchiha Mai launched himself forward. He leaped high and kicked at Hizuki Jun's chest, moving so fast he nearly left an afterimage.
"Yes!"
The Daimyo of the Land of Wind beamed and clapped his hands.
This was it. This was true brilliance. This was the fight I wanted to see.
"Ice Release: Ice Shuriken."
Hizuki Jun murmured the words and pushed off with his toes, darting backward.
