Despite this caution, he is candid and strategic when Spirit Hall's future is at stake. After witnessing MC World's potential, he concludes that Spirit Hall would be destroyed if it tried to seize control of Gu Changge's territory; he urges Qian Renxue to seek a political connection with Gu Changge, though he acknowledges the harshness of that proposal. 62 63

History

Gui Mei served Spirit Hall alongside Yue Guan as one of Bibi Dong's protectors. Before his capture, Yue Guan recruited him to assist with Xie Yue's Spirit Ring hunt; soon afterward, Qian Renxue forcibly conscripted both of them to help kill the Three-Legged Sun Golden Crow for her seventh Spirit Ring. Gui Mei, Yue Guan, and Pufferfish Douluo exhausted themselves in the battle, then waited through Qian Renxue's dangerous over-limit absorption. 35

After sensing distant combat aftershocks, Yue Guan insisted on investigating despite Gui Mei's reluctance. The pair encountered Gu Changge's group shortly after Gu Changge absorbed the Darkgold Terrorclaw Bear's Spirit Ring. Initially arriving to inspect—and potentially claim—the Soul Bone, they instead faced Dugu Bo's newly revealed level-99 cultivation. 30 31

Encounter with Dugu Bo

Gui Mei joins Yue Guan in confronting Dugu Bo in the Star Dou Great Forest. Dugu Bo invites both to attack, but after Yue Guan is launched into a hill by a single punch, Gui Mei sits down and concedes immediately. 31

Forced Recruitment into MC World

Dugu Bo and Gu Changge forcibly bring Gui Mei and Yue Guan through a Void Gate to MC World as laborers. After further beatings, both are compelled to join as External Personnel and ordered to level uneven terrain. 32 34

Dugu Bo provides them with a beginner's guide and warns them about MC World's rules, including fall damage and the inability of non-flying individuals to fly. Gui Mei complies rather than provoke further punishment. 35

Shift in Loyalty

MC World's rules, Gu Changge's status as World Master, and the Monster Grinding Tower's effect on cultivation overturn Gui Mei's worldview. He and Yue Guan decide that aligning themselves with MC World is more advantageous than maintaining unquestioning loyalty to Spirit Hall. 58

Spirit Hall's Future
