Doctrine

The Sect of Enlightenment follows the principle of “Enlightenment of Heaven’s Way”: adapting to the times and the celestial mandate in order to act in one’s best interest. Its teachings emphasize understanding the rules of Heaven and Earth, using them to survive and prosper, rather than futilely confronting the Heavenly Dao. 34 58

Three Sects joint Dao propagation

Fang Yang proposes that the Human Sect, Sect of Enlightenment, and Sect of Interception jointly spread the Dao. Primordial Heavenly Venerate accepts the plan’s mutual benefit but declines to appoint Guangchengzi because of his hostility toward the Sect of Interception. 34 46

The Sect of Enlightenment instead sends Daoist Cihang, True Man Samantabhadra, and Venerable Manjushri as representatives. At Shouyang Mountain, they agree to divide responsibilities: the Sect of Enlightenment will explain Daoist principles and moral conduct while the other sects provide their respective teachings and practical benefits. 46 48

The cooperation of Fang Yang, Grand Master Xuandu, Cihang, and the other representatives demonstrates that harmonious disciples—not merely nominal fellow sect members—are necessary for the Three Sects to work together. The Three Pure Ones subsequently demote Guangchengzi and Daoist Duobao to test and guide them. 51

Mystic Gate Dao Discussion Assembly

In preparation for the assembly, Guangchengzi reaches Peak Grand Unity with support from True Person Taiyi and True Lord Qingxu Daode through the Qiankun Yuanyu Jade Void Immortal Art. 92

The sect suffers embarrassment when Xiao Zhen and Deng Hua are consecutively defeated by Black Rakshasa of the Asura Cult. Immortal Weng of the South Pole later restores some of its standing by defeating Papiyas with the Golden Longevity Peach’s divine ability. 108 112

Netherworld operations

The Sect of Enlightenment sends disciples to the Netherworld alongside the Human Sect, Sect of Interception, and Western Sect. True Person Taiyi presents a plan to Empress Houtu that she approves as beneficial to the Netherworld. 165 169

True Person Taiyi and True Lord Qingxu Daode establish a ghost kingdom, but the project remains unstable because the sect lacks personnel and Xiao Zhen and Deng Hua cannot manage its civil or military affairs. 175

Chan–Jie Conflict

After the Dragon Fruit Tribe suffers losses connected to the Crane Clan, Dao Lord Chaotian of the Qingcheng Mountain Lineage accuses Immortal Weng of the South Pole of undermining Chan–Jie peace and demands that the Sect of Enlightenment surrender him. 226 229

The Sect of Enlightenment mobilizes its Great Powers and deploys the Twelve Sumeru Jade Void Array, but the Qingcheng Mountain Lineage’s Nine-Nine Infinite Array suppresses the formation, defeats the Twelve Golden Immortals, severely injures Guangchengzi, and captures Immortal Weng of the South Pole. 229 230

Taiqing Saint ultimately rules that Immortal Weng must revive the slain beings and remain confined to Kunlun Mountain for three million years for his negligence in supervising the Crane Clan. He also orders the Chan and Jie disciples not to continue fighting over the affair. 232

The defeat leaves the Sect of Enlightenment’s disciples ashamed of both their loss in strength and the damage to their sect’s dignity. 233
