Background / History

Indra is Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki's eldest son and the progenitor of the Uchiha Clan. He spent his life seeking recognition from Hagoromo, but came to believe that his father dismissed his strength and consistently favored his younger brother, Asura. This resentment became the foundation of his hostility toward both Hagoromo and Asura. 50 51 55

When Uchiha Genki threatened the Ninja World, Indra ignored Hagoromo and Asura's pleas and approached Genki instead. He accepted Genki's view that Hagoromo's favoritism and interference had ruined his life, then openly opposed his father and fought Asura to prevent him from aiding Hagoromo. 50 51

After Genki devoured Hagoromo's soul, he offered Indra a choice: take Yin Release Chakra to travel independently between worlds, or join him in pursuing revenge against those they considered hypocrites. Indra chose Genki's side and later fully integrated the Yin Release Chakra, allowing him to attain the Six Paths Level and awaken the Six Magatama Rinnegan. 72 76

Indra is aloof, proud, and intensely resentful of Hagoromo's treatment of him. He views Hagoromo's teachings about mercy and protection as excuses used to deny his efforts and elevate Asura over him. His need for paternal approval eventually gives way to a desire for power, revenge, and proof that he was always superior to his brother. 55 118
