And so, the battle between Baiyue and Wang Yue turned back into Wang Yue chasing him down. Wang Yue didn't care one bit whether the people of Nanzhao lived or died. After all, they had betrayed Ling'er and the Witch Queen.

Baiyue realized he couldn't use the people to threaten Wang Yue, so he had no choice but to keep fleeing. Later, he even resorted to a forbidden technique, instantly escaping thousands of miles away and leaving Wang Yue with no way to catch up.

Watching the blood-red shield vanish between heaven and earth, Wang Yue knew Baiyue had escaped at the cost of severely damaging his own strength. But Wang Yue couldn't catch up, either, and he had no experience dealing with something like this. Time was short, and he still needed to reach Immortal Spirit Island and spend a few days with Ling'er to nurture their relationship. He didn't want to leave the Ling'er of the next cycle to Li Xiaoyao, so he gave up the chase.

Since Wang Yue wasn't pursuing him, he had passed up the best chance to kill Baiyue. Of course, even if he had given chase, he might not have found Baiyue. Wang Yue flashed away and, in the next instant, appeared before the statue of Qing'er Nuwa.

Looking at the statue, Wang Yue said helplessly, "Witch Queen, you didn't have to seal him away. The two of us could have joined forces and killed him."

The Witch Queen, Nuwa, knew that, of course. But she sighed and said, "The path of Nuwa has always been difficult. The people of this world are all my subjects. Watching them suffer pains me as if I were being wounded myself. I simply can't bring myself to stand by indifferently."
