Lin Xiangzhi hesitated. She wasn't sure whether Wang Yue was telling the truth, so she studied his eyes carefully. When he didn't look away, she figured he might be telling the truth after all. She said nothing, tacitly allowing him to come along as they continued on.

They hadn't gone far before Wang Yue realized why Song Xiaonan had suddenly changed her mind and teamed up with Xu Youshu, whom she'd always disliked.

Just as Wang Yue and Lin Xiangzhi were about to leave the school grounds, they heard three people hurrying after them in the distance. Seeing the two about to go out the gate, Xu Youshu called loudly, "Lin Xiangzhi, wait! I have something to tell you."

Lin Xiangzhi didn't wait, of course. But Xu Youshu ran fast, and once he caught up with them, he started fishing around in his pocket. A moment later, he pulled out an envelope and looked ready to say something.

How could Wang Yue not understand what was going on? Jiang Wu and Xu Youshu had apparently planned for Xu Youshu to confess to Lin Xiangzhi. To be safe, Jiang Wu had probably used his charms on Song Xiaonan, securing her last-minute betrayal.

Xu Youshu hadn't expected Lin Xiangzhi to simply leave. Unwilling to give up, he hurriedly called out, "Lin Xiangzhi, wait! I have something to tell you!"

But Lin Xiangzhi ignored him, pretending she hadn't heard. She lowered her head and quickened her pace, soon leaving the school grounds.
