A Transaction

Fan Kuai and the personal guards protecting Wang Yue noticed something strange. As they charged at the people blocking their way, the men seemed to swing their swords and blades wildly, as though they couldn't see them. They broke through the outer defenses with ease and headed for Pajia Kuo's command tent.

When Pajia Kuo heard they were under attack, he awoke from his nap. He hurriedly grabbed his weapon and rushed out of the tent, but as soon as he emerged, Wang Yue charged at him and lopped off his head with a single stroke.

As for why Wang Yue had switched to a blade this time instead of using the spear he usually favored, it was because a blade could sweep sideways and cut down a swath of enemies, leaving him less exposed to attack. A spear required more technique and made it easier to get hurt.

After Wang Yue cut off Pajia Kuo's head, Fan Kuai immediately rushed forward and lifted it up. He shouted, "Pajia Kuo is dead! Surrender, and you'll be spared!"

Most of the Rong Di troops hadn't even had time to react before their leader was killed. The other Hu people who had been forced to attack the Qin State took the opportunity to flee. The Rong Di army fell into complete disarray and posed little threat to Wang Yue's forces.

There were still many minor chiefs among the various tribes. Naturally, they weren't willing to be captured, so they led their people out to resist, hoping to escape in the confusion.

Wang Yue gave them no such opportunity. He led thirty thousand cavalry in a charge against the large groups of Rong Di who refused to surrender, never allowing them to form ranks.

The battle lasted from noon until nightfall.
