When Everything Happened at Once
Wang Yue and Xia Jie were walking ahead. Seeing that the other three had fallen quite a ways behind, he chatted with Xia Jie as they walked. "Honey, the money came through today. Shouldn't we buy a decent place?"
Xia Jie kicked him for calling her that. She regretted registering their marriage so soon. What had gotten into her? Why had she agreed to marry Wang Yue as soon as her internship ended?
But it was too late for regrets. After getting to know him over the past few months, she understood how shameless he could be. If she didn't answer, he'd just keep calling her "wife." It wouldn't make any difference.
Xia Jie thought it over and decided it was better to bring it up herself. She glanced behind them and saw that Li Dawei and the other two were still a few steps away. Reassured, she asked, "If we really are buying, we should look near the station. But property around here isn't cheap. Did you make enough this time?"
Wang Yue could tell she was starting to soften. She was even worrying about their finances as a couple, which felt like a good start. He replied smugly, "Pick anywhere you like around here. Even if you want a villa, we can buy a whole row of them."
From Wang Yue's tone, Xia Jie could tell he'd made a lot of money this time. But she didn't think he'd made enough to buy a bunch of villas. She assumed he was joking and just wanted her to feel comfortable choosing a place.
After thinking it over, Xia Jie said seriously, "Then let's get a duplex. My mom needs a room, after all, and I think we should buy a place with more bedrooms.
