A Pretty Good Family
Bing Kun hadn't wanted to give it away. But as he hesitated, he saw his father and older brother both watching him, as if waiting for him to decide. That irritated him.
Why weren't the two of them saying anything? Why were they just staring at him? What was that supposed to mean?
Bing Kun was a little childish. He felt his father and brother were looking down on him, so he angrily pulled the last steamed bun from the paper bag, squeezed his eyes shut, and thrust it into Wang Yue's hand. He didn't dare look at that last bun again.
Perhaps he felt that what he'd just done was terribly rude. Bing Kun opened his eyes to see how Wang Yue was reacting, only to find Wang Yue looking at him questioningly.
Feeling looked down on, Bing Kun said indignantly, "This is the last one. My mom and my sister haven't had any."
Seeing how reluctant Zhou Bingkun was to part with it, Wang Yue hesitated. After all, the family had already given him two of their three buns to eat. He couldn't bring himself to take the last one, too.
Besides, after eating two big buns, Wang Yue had regained some strength. He no longer felt weak all over like he had when he'd first arrived.
The older boy noticed Wang Yue's hesitation and admired him for it. Not everyone could still think of others at a time like this.
So the older boy smiled at Wang Yue and said, "Go ahead and eat it. We can have more another time. You'll need to be full to have the strength to take care of your parents' affairs."
