Tuan Tuan had been about to turn toward his eldest aunt's house. He'd planned to ask her to talk to Nannan about having a baby, since she was an obstetrician. But when he heard Nannan say that, he was more than happy to oblige. He didn't turn off at all, but rode straight toward Xijiu City.
They knew Congcong would get them excused from work. They were both young and fit, and pedaled fast. With a little effort, they covered the fifty- or sixty-kilometer distance. Wang Yue had been heading toward the cafeteria, but when Tuan Tuan called, he hurried home instead. He lived nearby, and Tuan Tuan and Nannan hadn't arrived yet when he got there.
Zhao Xiaomai had no idea what was going on. When she saw Wang Yue return, she asked in surprise, "Why are you back all of a sudden? Didn't you say you had something to do this afternoon?"
Wang Yue hung up his coat by the door and changed his shoes. Seeing Yue Yue and Yuan Yuan watching him curiously, he smiled and reassured Zhao Xiaomai. "Tuan Tuan said he and Nannan would be coming over in a bit. They want to talk to me about something, so I rushed back."
Zhao Xiaomai was speechless. Was something involving the kids worth making Wang Yue come back so early? She thought he spoiled them too much. She shot him a look and complained, "It's just something involving one of the kids. Was it worth making a special trip? They haven't even said what time they'll get here, and you'll have to rush off again this afternoon. What a hassle. You could've come back after you finished your own business."
Before Wang Yue could answer, Yue Yue finally understood what he'd
