Home Was Gone
Wang Yue couldn't say for sure what had happened. Some people said that life had gotten better, so the things they used to eat no longer tasted good. Others thought it was because the ingredients had changed. Whatever the reason, food just didn't taste the way it used to.
Wang Yue and Zhou Bingkun reminisced for a while, until Zhao Xiaomai knocked. She glanced at the two men in the room and saw that they seemed to have finished talking, so she smiled and said, "The food and wine are ready. You two should come out."
Zhou Bingkun had already gotten his emotions under control. Looking at Zhao Xiaomai, he smiled and said, "Thanks, sister-in-law. We'll be right out."
Zhou Bingkun stood up first. Once Wang Yue had risen as well, he headed out with him. But when they reached the doorway, they found Yue Yue helping carry dishes to the table, which surprised him.
Wang Yue noticed the change in Zhou Bingkun's expression and more or less guessed what he was thinking, but he didn't say anything. He had only figured it out later himself, so he might as well let Bing Kun stay confused.
When Yue Yue saw Wang Yue and Zhou Bingkun come out, she greeted them enthusiastically. "Third Uncle, Little Uncle, Third Aunt has already made dinner. It's all your favorites."
Zhou Bingkun was surprised by the change in Yue Yue. She had never been this diligent at their house. Suddenly, he understood. Could Yue Yue's spoiled personality be because none of them had ever had the heart to discipline her?
Wang Yue had no idea what Zhou Bingkun was thinking. If he had, he would have spat a mouthful of salty water at him. You'd think he and Zhao Xiaomai were villains.
