Learning a New Skill
Thinking about what had just happened, Wang Yue found it a little funny. This was how it had gone.
At the time, Lu Jianhua saw Wang Yue get out of the car. Taking a cue from Xuan Mo's mother, he seemed to think getting a taxi at that hour would be a hassle, so he smiled and said, "Little Yue, when I have time tomorrow, I'll return the car to you."
Hearing this, Xuan Mo didn't wait for Wang Yue to explain. She said solemnly, "This car was part of my deal with Wang Yue. It's mine!"
Xuan Mo's mother shot Wang Yue a murderous look, then asked Xuan Mo in a slightly trembling voice, "What kind of deal did you make with Wang Yue? You're both still children! You can't go doing anything reckless!"
Xuan Mo didn't catch any other meaning in her mother's words. Thinking her mother was simply against her making a deal with Wang Yue, she frowned and said firmly, "I need a car!"
Xuan Mo's mother opened her mouth, at a loss as to how to educate her daughter. Her eyes quickly reddened. Seeing this, Lu Jianhua felt awful for her and hurried to comfort his wife.
Wang Yue helplessly shook his head, then cleared his throat and explained with a smile, "Auntie, it's like this: Xuan Mo agreed to teach me something she knows, so I gave her a car. It's no big deal to me. Besides, the police looked into it, and Xuan Mo and I weren't alone together at any point today."
