Great Bamboo Peak was long regarded as one of Qingyun Sect’s weaker lineages. Its small number of disciples frequently failed to advance in the Seven Peaks Martial Arts Tournament, and Tian Buyi endured repeated mockery from rival peaks—particularly Dragon Head Peak—over its lack of notable talent. 11

The peak’s fortunes changed when Song Daren brought the orphan Ye Xuan to Shou Jing Hall. Tian Buyi recognized Ye Xuan’s exceptional spiritual essence and Innate Dao Body, accepted him as his seventh disciple, and ordered the discovery kept secret from the other peaks. 3 4 11
