Through his connection with Naobi and his own observations, Shinji had already guessed most of what was going on with H.

That was why he had ordered Neji and Kimimaro to enter the Fusion State.

Only in the Fusion State, with all three of their Chakra fully shared and its quantity and quality greatly enhanced, could H begin to awaken and communicate with the outside world without harming Neji or Kimimaro.
