Wicker Man

Wicker Man, scientific name: [Furnace Golem]

It was named for its resemblance to the folk custom of the Wicker Man, though most of the thing was actually made of iron bars. Only its appearance resembled a Wicker Man.

Its body was designed as a blazing fire pit. A mask modeled after the Flame Evil God hung from the brazier as its face, while its limbs were likewise forged from iron bars. There was not the slightest hint of gentleness in its appearance—only naked malice.

Just like its name, "Furnace," raging flames burned all over its body.

And serving as fuel within its body were countless corpses.

They still retained the agonized struggling postures from the moment of their deaths. Their smoke-blackened bones twisted out through the gaps between the iron bars, as if showing how desperately they had wanted to escape this place in life.

The Wicker Man was a Celtic ritual of human sacrifice. Those chosen as offerings would be placed inside the Wicker Man and burned alive to pray for favorable weather in the coming year.

With something so heretical as its prototype, the Furnace Golem naturally carried an intense sense of horror.

This thing suited Gong Qiying's personal tastes perfectly. He thought it was far more oppressive than the Fire Giant's huge eyeballs.

If Golem Guards looked like the common elite monsters of a fantasy setting, then the Furnace Golem added a deeper layer of terror on top of that. Combined with its massive height, even taller than a Golem Guard, and its inverted-triangle build, everything about it proclaimed its strength.

One setting that clashed with its appearance was that the Furnace Golem was actually a weapon of war, not much different from a Golem Guard. Scrapped Furnace Golems could be found everywhere in the Shadow Realm.
