In the wind-swept, rain-lashed mountain forest, a mountain demon was watching.
Thunder rumbled endlessly, lightning flashed without cease. The mountain demon trembled as well, yet could not resist the greed in its heart. It often hid behind the trees, peering toward the ruined temple amid the thunder, lightning, and rain.
"Rumble!"
Lightning suddenly lit up half the sky, throwing the entire mountain range into brightness like broad daylight.
The mountain demon shuddered and instinctively looked up.
That single glance filled it with even greater terror.
The night sky was full of deities, every one of them tall and mighty, divine light shielding their bodies, thunder weapons in hand. All of them looked down at the temple as though facing a formidable enemy.
Though the mountain demon had never seen these deities before, it could tell at a glance that they were the Thunder Lords of legend. Every one of them was the bane of all demons, fiends, ghosts, and monsters—the sort that inspired instinctive fear at first sight. Yet now, they had all gathered here, staring at that little ruined temple.
That little ruined temple it had been watching too...
The mountain demon had already been afraid. Now it was even more terrified.
Fortunately, no one in the sky looked its way.
"Rumble!"
Another Thunder Lord suddenly appeared among those in the heavens.
This Thunder Lord wore black robes, divine radiance and lightning coiling about his entire body. Both his divine light and his lightning far surpassed those of the Thunder Lords beside him. His face was stern and righteous, and the near-instinctive terror and trembling he brought the mountain demon were far stronger than what the other Thunder Lords inspired.
Yet after appearing, this Thunder Lord did not stay long. He paused for only an instant before vanishing into
