An Yang still had quite a few impressions of Léon: The Professional.
The protagonist, Leon, was a top-tier lone-wolf assassin. Haunted by a tragic past, he faced endless solitude, accompanied only by a potted plant. Though he had killed countless people, he adhered to his own assassin's code: no women, no children. Oh, and he liked drinking milk.
The female lead, Mathilda, was a rebellious little girl. Her terrible family life made her crave maturity, and her only real loved one was her little brother. But when her entire family was slaughtered, her fierce nature was burdened with a blood debt.
One utterly alone, one despised by others—two people starving for love came together.
The main villain was a DEA cop: neurotic, artistic, unhinged, and a killer without blinking. He embodied every trait of a villain. Anyone who'd seen the movie would know his skills were just as formidable.
The prologue mission was really simple—at least this one was. No overly complicated relationships. He could kill without restraint and then leave this world.
An Yang pondered and came up with two methods.
One was to prevent the conflict between Leon and Stans. The other was to snipe the main villain, Stans, from long range with an M200 just before the final moment.
The little girl had a stubborn, unyielding personality. Persuading her to give up revenge was out of the question. Besides, he had no idea where Mathilda and Leon lived, nor did he know the current progress of the main storyline.
The main villain, Stans, was easy to find. He was a cop with the New York Department of Justice. But the man was naturally cautious. Even though he was right in his office at the Federal Building, An Yang's half-baked skills made a clean snipe unlikely. A screw-up would alert the enemy.
He remembered that after Stans killed Mathilda's family, he went out three times: once to cooperate with the FBI in questioning at Mathilda's home, once to take his men to find Tony, and the last to mobilize SWAT to besiege Leon and Mathilda. Besides that, he commuted to work every day.
He had to kill Leon.
An Yang picked up his phone. The black screen lit up, displaying a line of data.

"Really am a newbie," An Yang muttered with a wry smile.
He put away his phone and walked out onto the street.
The next day, on the rooftop of a tall building, the morning sun slanted down. A figure walked out slowly, dropped a heavy case on the ground, and opened it, revealing a yellow sniper rifle inside.
He pulled out the stock, inserted the bolt, attached the barrel, loaded the magazine—until the entire sniper rifle took shape, reaching 135 centimeters in length.
Through the sniper scope, he could clearly see the building ahead, flying the American flag. He could even read the English on the sign by the main entrance.
Department of Justice
He began his stakeout for Leon.
A police car screeched to a halt at the Federal Building entrance. A man in a gray suit got out and strode briskly inside.
"Stans!"
An Yang's interest piqued. The crosshairs locked onto Stans's back, but the man was moving quickly, and people kept passing by. An Yang had no confidence in the shot.
Almost at the same time, a yellow taxi stopped at the Federal Building entrance. A girl in a white shirt and floral shorts, with short hair covering her face, got out and hid sneakily behind a wall to peek.
The scene was so familiar that he immediately understood the plot's progress.
In a flash, Stans walked into the Federal Building. An Yang packed up the sniper rifle and hurried downstairs.
Following the little girl as she went home, An Yang found the apartment where Leon and she were renting.
Over the next month, An Yang endured the most painful experience of his life. Every day, he staked out a vigilant top-tier assassin from a rooftop, his nerves constantly taut, moving with extreme caution. The boredom and monotony were unbearable for someone who had lived in a peaceful world.
The assassin Leon and the little girl Mathilda often acted together. Whenever they returned to the room, they'd draw the curtains. Leon's vigilance was truly extreme.
An Yang was like God, holding the reins of fate. He knew the general direction of the plot, yet he watched everything unfold from an outsider's perspective, trying to intervene and change certain people's destinies.
Finally, he saw Mathilda sitting on the stone steps, contemplating life. What happened next followed the plot: Mathilda left Leon a note and set off to take revenge alone.
And An Yang had already arrived at the rooftop opposite the Federal Building to wait.
Through the scope, he could see the little girl Mathilda disguised as a delivery person, acting suspiciously near the newsstand in front of the Federal Building.
A black police car stopped at the Federal Building entrance. The little girl quickly turned her head, looking nervous.
Stans got out of the car and strode quickly toward the door. Just as he reached the entrance, he turned back to say something to someone in the police car. At that moment, there was no one at the Federal Building entrance—it was the perfect sniping opportunity.
The plot grew more and more familiar. An Yang had already anticipated everything. He placed the crosshairs on the Federal Building entrance, waiting for Stans to arrive. His index finger rested on the trigger, then he pulled it sharply.
Pew!
An Yang's heart trembled. This was his first time firing a gun, and he was aiming at a living person.
The M200 sniper rifle, whose bullets remain supersonic at over two thousand meters and are claimed to have an error margin of no more than one minute of angle at that range, produced virtually no deviation at a few hundred meters.
A blossom of blood burst from Stans's chest, and he collapsed, his entire chest cavity nearly shattered.
The little girl was stunned, frozen in place, instinctively looking toward the rooftop across the way, wondering who dared to snipe a police officer in broad daylight right at the entrance of the Department of Justice.
An Yang, still nervous and enduring his pounding heart, aimed again at Stans's back on the ground and pulled the trigger once more.
"Pew!"
A faint flash of flame spat from the suppressor. This shot didn't hit Stans's back—it hit his head.
"Bang."
Stans's entire head exploded like a watermelon struck by a heavy hammer, splattering white and red across the ground. An Yang immediately shut his eyes, pulled his face away from the scope, and fought back the urge to vomit.
Shrill police sirens sounded below. His assassination skills were truly terrible; sniping from this position meant that once discovered, escape was nearly impossible.
But he hadn't planned on fleeing.
The sirens grew closer. An Yang, suppressing his churning stomach, disassembled the sniper rifle piece by piece and packed it into its case. He picked up his phone, where a line of text flashed rapidly, accompanied by a cold voice:
Mission successful. Mission rewards obtained: Item Ability *1, Skill Points *3, Physical Attribute Points *3. The chosen one may return to the real world at any time.
"I roughly understand Physical Attribute Points and Skill Points. What does Item Ability mean?"
"Item Ability is one of the abilities left behind by the system, with various functions. The chosen one randomly acquires a certain Item Ability, which can be repeated and accumulated."
"Oh... so it's like an item card, right?"
"Yes."
An Yang grinned thoughtfully and said, "Then Skill Points can only be used to improve existing skills?"
"No. You can spend one Skill Point to randomly draw a new skill, or spend three Skill Points to select a designated skill."
"Alright then. First, draw the Item Ability. Then use one Skill Point to try drawing a new skill."
"Drawing... Drawing complete. Acquired Item Ability: Portable Space, usable at any time. Acquired Skill: Instrument Mastery (Beginner). Establishing transmission..."
Countless pieces of knowledge flooded into An Yang's mind, splitting his head with pain. Fortunately, it was only Instrument Mastery, so he didn't pass out. The pain lasted half a minute, and after recovering, his head still felt swollen.
"Instrument Mastery. What use do I have for this?"
An Yang smiled bitterly. He immediately dared not draw another skill—his points were limited and couldn't afford such waste.
"Use Portable Space."
As soon as he spoke, he felt a dimensional space materialize around him, a cube one meter in length, width, and height—exactly one cubic meter in volume—which he could manipulate at will.
With a thought, the heavy sniper rifle case in his hands vanished. Looking again, the nearly meter-long case sat steadily inside the space.
"This ability is convenient. Much better than some Instrument Mastery."
He tossed everything he had on him into the Portable Space, including his green card and US dollars, keeping only a pistol in his hand. Only then did An Yang realize he had just killed a man, and his heart churned with tangled emotions.
"Woo—"
The piercing sirens were now right downstairs. An Yang looked down and saw only the little girl Mathilda's figure hiding behind a tree, peeking out cautiously—and she happened to see him.
An Yang grinned, though his face was pale, and picked up his phone.
"Return."
With a flash of light, he vanished from the rooftop.
