In front of the Planetary Defense Council and all the Human Alliance representatives, Alvin had nearly made the three Wallfacers—Radias, Taylor, and Sienns—out to be utterly worthless.
"Alvin!"
Taylor slammed the table in anger and roared, "What did you say? Who's trash?!"
"You, you, and—you."
Alvin wasn't the least bit afraid. He met the furious gazes of Taylor, Radias, and Sienns and calmly said, "First, I recognize your contributions to humanity and your firm convictions. But that doesn't change the fact that your plans have failed."
"What gives you the right to say our plans have failed?" Radias said icily. "Or rather, what makes you think your plan is necessarily better than ours? Alvin—we admit that, as a superpowered individual, you do have certain advantages. But that doesn't mean your plan will definitely lead humanity to victory!"
"Young man, confidence is a good thing." Taylor sneered, then continued, "But blind confidence will only lead you into an abyss. I don't deny that you have certain advantages, but I've seen more of the world than you've had meals. You should learn some humility first."
Sienns, the scholar among the three, wasn't as aggressive in his tone, but he was just as unconvinced. "Mr. Valshus, you say your plan is better than ours. Please provide actual evidence, or I'll find it difficult to accept your claims!"
"Fair enough. Without 'evidence,' I suppose you wouldn't accept what I have to say."
Alvin nodded, then pointed at the first man. "First, you, Manuel Radiaz."
Radias felt inexplicably nervous when Alvin called him out, but he kept his expression under control and regained his composure. "Heh, let's see what evidence you can come up with."
